Duties and Responsibilities:
Operating Theater Nurse
• Provide nursing care for patients undergoing surgery.
• Assist surgeons in major or minor operations.
• Maintain standards of nursing care in pre-operative and post -operative planning, implementation and patient care.
• Prepare the operating room for all emergency and scheduled procedures.
• Keep principles of aseptic techniques in performing surgical scrub, setting instruments, gowning, gloving as needed for the procedure.
• Assist as a circulatory or scrub nurse.
• Monitor and report all vital signs of patient.
• Administer oxygen therapy and suctions of secretions if required.
• Report any untoward reactions of patient to the surgeon or anaesthesiologist.
• Carry out all the doctors’ order and directions.
• Give all psychological support to the patient and family.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Operating Theater Nurse
• Provide nursing care for patients undergoing surgery.
• Assist surgeons in major or minor operations.
• Maintain standards of nursing care in pre-operative and post -operative planning, implementation and patient care.
• Prepare the operating room for all emergency and scheduled procedures.

Labor and Delivery Room Nurse:
• Monitors the pregnant client’s condition during the labor process.
• Closely checks fetal status and well-being.
• Prepares patient for delivery by assisting her to the DR table, performing perineal shaving and perineal preparation, draping and catheterization.
• Acts as a coach during the delivery process and provides the needs of the gynecologist and the patient.
• Prepares for episiorrhaphy.
• Performs newborn care and cord dressing.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records.
• Administer nursing care to ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled patients.
• Advise patients on health maintenance and disease prevention or provide case management.
• Responsible for total patient care, including medication, orders and treatments.
• Assists the physicians in performing special procedures.
• Maintains the patient’s clinical records; assists with execution of the physician’s orders; keeps accurate problem oriented nurses notes according to audit committee standards.
• Assists the physician with procedures and treatments. Administers treatments including sterile procedures.
• Guides personnel in evaluating patient needs.
• Administers medications according to hospital policy.
• Practices economical use of equipment and supplies, informs proper authority of
discrepancies.
• Attends and supports Inservice Education Programs
Duties and Responsibilities:
CIRCULATING Nurse:
• Collects clinical data thru the process of interviewing observations using all senses and clinical instruments and utilization of diagnostic examination reports.
• Gathers all information about patient, including healthcare records in the appropriate forms of proper documentation
• Observes the patient’s level of consciousness (Glasgow coma scale), behavior and mental status and inspects body for deformities or trauma.
• Verifies consent signed by patient and witness before proceeding to surgery.
• Makes sure the patient understands the procedure including risks involved to be performed by him or her.
• Assesses patency of tubings attached to the client being transported for operation.
• Review’s patient pre-operative preparation including spiritual needs, before transporting to the operating room.
• Prepares the operating room and observes the proper sterile techniques at all times.
• Provides safety of patient in transferring from stretcher to OR table.
• Performs skin preparation on the operative site.
• Monitors the patient’s status by checking vital signs before, during and after a performed operation.
• Is always held accountable in performing sponge and instrument count during any performed surgical procedure.
• Reports any untoward findings obtained from the patient to the members of the surgical team.
• Maintains observation of sterile practices inside the operating room.
• Checks all the emergency drugs and equipment and replace them after every use.
• Seeks that the patient’s condition is stabilized before transporting to the PACU.
SCRUB Nurse:
• Performs surgical handwashing, gowning, and gloving in preparation for surgery.
• Prepares the sterile field.
• Performs patient draping.
• Coordinates with the surgeon and assistant surgeon by giving the appropriate instruments needed in the surgical procedure.
• Maintains and observes sterility at all times.
• Interacts with the circulating nurse during counting of instruments, sponges, sutures and needles before ending any operation.
• Acts with presence of mind and anticipate future actions to be rendered whenever an untoward incident may occur.
• Bears in heart and mind the surgical conscience before, during and after an operation.
DELIVERY ROOM Nurse:
• Monitors the pregnant client’s condition during the labor process.
• Closely checks fetal status and well-being.
• Prepares patient for delivery by assisting her to the DR table, performing perineal shaving and perineal preparation, draping and catheterization.
