Working within the maintenance department, responsibilities included installing and commissioning of plant, providing a maintenance service for all the sites mechanical functioning machines, processing plant and all associate handling equipment. September 2000, I was promoted to Supervisor within the Facilities Function, the responsibility of this role included, supervising a team of 18 Maintenance operators, including Electricians, Fitters, Plumbers and Semi-skilled operators. My responsibilities included planning and coordinating work schedules and loads in accordance with time limits, ordering stock and material required.

I Served my apprenticeship as an Aircraft Mechanic, first completing one year in the training school being taught the principles of engineering. This included milling/turning, sheet metalwork, electrical systems and fitting skills. During my time in the training school, I learned how valuable team working was, and this commitment to team working has continued through out my career. The last three years of my apprenticeship involved the manufacture and installation of aircraft systems. I was then seconded on to Aircraft Maintenance as a time served Aircraft Mechanic where my duties included preparing aircraft for flight and the maintenance of all the primary systems, engine, propeller, hydraulics, pneumatics, air conditioning and flying controls.
