Assist the contractor in developing the installation, Test and commissioning strategies that will fulfil the needs of the customer and ensure a smooth transition to the new technology. This will lead to the implementation of the CBMB system with dynamic Rail flexibility that enables increased access for revenue trains and improved safe access windows for vital rail maintenance.

PMC Rail Construction & Commissioning Manager Current

Roy Hill is a 55MTPA mine with a 377km rail network. The rail network will be completed in October 2015 and ready to transport saleable product to the Port.

My role as the Rail Construction and Commissioning Manager has seen the safe delivery of earthworks and 350km of rail servicing the Mine TLO and Port RCD. The project has provisioned a rail service track with culvert drainage designed to ensure protection of the rail formation during the wet season.

The project has handed over the Earthworks, Rail, Rolling Stock, Signals and Communications packages to the Client delivering;

• 21 Locomotives
• 1078 Ore Cars
• 12 Fuel tank Cars
• 5 flat bed Cars
• 3 Ballast Wagons
• Rail Formation
• 11 Bridges
• 377KM of rail including spurs and loops
• 110 signal locations
• 700km of fibre
• SDH
• 20 RBS sites
• Wimax
• HBD
• Tetra radio system for Mine, Port and Rail.

Project Goals

To deliver the project with a clear safety focus and see the improvement in the team as we grow through the construction phase of the project. Maintain excellence in construction delivery and swift project close out through a vigilant handover process to the client that will enable acceptance and completion on target and in budget.

Building relationships with the contractor teams to ensure a clear understanding of project deliverables, timescale and assist in the management of budgetary control through best practice in construction delivery.

The Ore Car Repair Shop (OCRS) is a new leading edge technology centre for the repair and maintenance of the BHP Ore Car Fleet that are delivering record tonnes from the Pilbara to the Port.

Manage the safe and timely construction of the Earthworks, Rail, Signals and Communication packages for the BHP Ore Car repair Shop.

Construction and Commissioning of the signal and communication infrastructure associated with a modern rail system including microwave, SDH, P25 and associated signal systems for commissioned integration to the existing BHP network.

Earthworks construction for new rail and road access to the OCRS.

Construction of a new rail loop for the OCRS, with arrival and departure tracks integrating into the existing BHP rail network.

Calibre Jimblebar Project $1.6b

Site Manager Construction - Rail Ending November 13

Manage the safe construction and commissioned integration of a new Rail for the 55 mtpa BHP mine at Jimblebar and the new Rail for the 15 mtpa BHP mine at OB24. Both rail heads being constructed in unison with tight delivery time frames for the movement of ore.

The team delivered Rail, Fibre, Transmission and IWP signals to ensure a smooth flow of Iron Ore from the new mine head at Jimblebar to the ship loading facilities in Port Hedland. The new network and associated systems were successfully integrated into the existing BHP rail signals infrastructure on target and on budget.

Maintain a high focus on the safe delivery of the project, meeting all environmental and heritage KPI’s. Engender a collaborative approach from all team members and contracting workforce to ensure a best practice result is delivered for the client.
