Curriculum school in Sharjah, UAE in the Inclusion Department
Role includes teaching English to ELL-SOD students and adapting the British National
Curriculum for Year 5 students to reduce/remove barriers to learning, making the English
curriculum more accessible for students enrolled in learning support. Responsibilities include
understanding individual needs of children at Level 3 - requiring support in class or during pullout lessons, assisting and supporting Class teachers by sharing best practices for differentiation,
scaffolding & learning styles for promoting an inclusive ethos in general classrooms and
coordinating with SENCOs for students needing specialized support and/or standardized SEN
assessment battery implementation so parents receive SENCO counselling to obtain timely,
necessary formal diagnosis, if multiple needs are suspected. Managing Individual Education
Plans (IEPs) and group IEPs for all children receiving additional learning support and record keeping per SPEA/DIEFP guidelines, as applicable and advised by the schools’ Inclusion
department policies. Rendering parental guidance services for home-based strategies/programs
to boost learning and development for students receiving LS, sharing strategies that boost team
performance, are data driven and student centric besides raising quality standards of the
specialized learning support program are other essential elements of this role.

• Previously employed as Special Education Needs Teacher/ SENCo in a 175 year old all-boys residential ICSE school, I introduced the Special Education program in the college.
