Trauma Programs promulgation and conducting Trauma courses for Doctors, Nurses and Paramedics

The Nursing Supervisor role is a middle management position for supervisory coverage of the Nursing Department, other patient care areas and the hospital in general during night shifts (or when administration is not present i.e. over the weekends and public holidays). The Nursing Supervisor acts as the link between the management and clinical, and the Executive on-call.
The role includes but not limited to:
* an administrator on grounds after hours and on weekends/public holidays
* appropriate utilization of resources
* attendance to code calls i.e. Code White, Blue, Pink, etc.
* patient/family concerns - helping with prompt response, early intervention and de-escalation of events
* patient flow concerns
* Improvement projects for the Nursing team
*acts as a resource to identify and/or solve administrative/operational problems
* report to the Nurse Administrator on-call and/or Executive on-call significant incidents and problems such as: unusual patient or family problems or concerns; adverse and sentinel events; physician concerns; major damage or utility outages; security problems; public relations or media events; non-clinical emergencies such as fire, disaster, bomb threats; matters of legal importance; calls received from DoH or any other regulatory body; safety issues, etc.

Managed entire activities of nursing unit and programmes, leading team of 80 caregivers, delivering clinic supervision, and defining clinical direction for high-quality nursing care delivery. Utilised multidisciplinary approach to patient care delivery for improving patient outcome. Offered education consultation. Monitored key performance indicators for maintaining quality, patient safety, financial, operational, and patient/family satisfaction.
Selected Contributions:
• Administered department operating/capital budgets and improved processes to create strategic plan that met financial goals and generate revenue.
• Professionally communicated with customers to identify and resolve issues, along with providing customer satisfaction feedback to senior nursing staff.
• Improved overall health outcomes and facilitated smooth care progression by developing interdisciplinary care plan with the assistance of staff.
• Implemented quality improvement, accreditation, and patient safety initiatives in accordance with CCAD, nursing and department standards, and regulatory compliance.

Steered entire hospital activities in assigned units, including improving quality of care delivered to patient/family, handling patient complaints, and enforcing compliance to prescribed standards. Managed nursing department functions and organising management meetings for setting hospital long-term goals and discussing/resolving issues. Implemented educational plans and programmes for improving staff development and meeting learning needs of nursing staff. Guided team of 50 members and monitored their activities for creating manpower status report. Led all functions to promote shared governance and preparedness for JCIA requirements. Contributed in case management for managing the delivery of comprehensive healthcare services for enrolled patients.

• Decreased waste, lost charges up to 60%, and achieved long-term goals for success by applying road map strategy for resources and capital expenditure.
• Instructed managers and delivered training by scheduling sessions to enhance knowledge and skills.
• Spearheaded all aspects of developmental projects affecting patient satisfaction, staff engagement, and standardisation of care. Introduced new services for decreasing length of stay and improving patient care and safety.
• Increased retention rates of nurses and decreased turnover rate to 0% for 3 years by creating positive working environment, providing opportunities for professional development, and developing career ladder programme.
• Formulated nursing quality improvement standards in the institution to provide better patient care and services.
• Represented department in hospital committees and built nursing professional practice council for maintaining the standards of nursing/clinical care based on evidenced-based nursing practices.

Liaison person between the CME and the External Medical affairs and between the CME and the Continuing Professional Development Center in the Nursing Department. I worked on education requests coming from the EMA and CPDC, developed polices, MOUs, educational activities and conferences.

Moreover, I have inaugurated the Trauma Training Program in affiliation with the American College of Surgeons, as an exclusive program in the Country. Was the National Coordinator for ATLS and National Director for ATCN and PHTLS

Gave first aid, First Responder, EMT-B and PHTLS training to many groups of LRC volunteers, and community.

As an ER RN, rotates between the Medical, Surgical, Triage and Pediatric areas as assigned by the Nurse Manager. RN, care coordinator and preceptor. Resource person for Pressure Ulcer in the unit. During this role, I have continued to work in the Magnet committee that I was assigned to (Ethics and Safety) and I have joined the NPPC.

RN medical oncology unit, in charge and care coordinator. Acted as a preceptor and mentor for new orientees. As part of the career ladder advancement I have participated and chaired many task forces such as: Safety fair, Magnet, JCI, ethics, pressure ulcer

Private Nurse for high dependent patients

Was elected by the Assistant Nursing Director (currently Nursing Director at Saint George Hospital) Ms Wafa Maalouf, and the director of the BSN program at the UOB Ms. Ursula Rizk, to act as a preceptor of the second year Nursing students

Worked as an RN in charge of 8-12 patients during the day duty and 29 during the night shift (as per hospital’s policy)
