The main and initial assignment was as an Office Engineer/Translator to assist the Team Leader in liaising and coordinating with the Contractor and in the meantime also inspecting work on site .
First of all , being not a Chinese native one has to learn the chinese language in just a year in order to enroll in engineering course . That was a challenge because at the time I did not know to spell even a word in chinese .But with commitment and hard working I managed to go thru the extensive course successfully. Then came the time ,we started the specialty at the university in Shanghai which was more challenging for learning all the aspects of structure engineering in other language rather than the familiar French . But later on , I faced the challenge head on with determination and focus till the successful completion in 1993. In fact , as final design project , I with other students in the team had the task for designing a plant or godown concrete structure that every one was given the assignment of designing specific building elements . That was really the taste of things to come though later I found even more interesting to have more experience in working on construction site for which I am enjoying very much with more skills and competence I continue acquiring .
