After my graduation from the Hellenic Military Academy as an infantry second-lieutenant in 1986, I started as a platoon leader in an infantry battalion. As a first-lieutenant, I was appointed as a trainer to the Greek Non-Commissioned-Officers (NCOs) School. As a captain, I served as company commander in various infantry battalions either in Greece and Cyprus, or in the NATO "Extraction Force HQ" in Kumanovo, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, as staff officer in the field of public information responsible to address the media in support of UNSCR 1203/ 1998 (January through March 1999). After the conclusion of my studies in the Academy of War and my promotion to the rank of major, I served as deputy commander in infantry battalion, as a staff member in national HQs and, as a J5 Plans Staff Officer in the KFOR HQ in Film City, Pristina, Kosovo in support of UNSCR 1244/ 1999 (September 2001 through July 2002) . Later, I assumed the duties of a battalion commander and, these of the staff officer Information Operations in the G3 (Operations Division) in the NATO Deployable Corps HQ (September 2003 through July 2005). Additionally, I had been appointed as the Force Protection officer of the HQ, which is equivalent to the Safety/Security officer in the private economy.
After my promotion to the rank of lieutenant colonel, I assumed the duties of the Staff Officer Information Operations in Joint Command Lisbon (also in the NATO chain of command), from July 2005 through July 2008. In Joint Command Lisbon, I was deeply involved in three different plans as an Information Operations specialist. First, the NATO support to the USA regarding the “Hurricane Katrina Operation” (2005). Second, the NATO support to the “Pakistani Earthquake Relief Operation” (2005). Third, the NATO support to Africa Union (AU) during the Humanitarian Crisis in Darfur (from 2006 until my departure from Lisbon in July 2008).
When I returned back to Greece, I assumed the duties of a mechanized infantry battalion commander for 2 years, and Cadets' Battalion Commander at the Hellenic Army Academy. After my promotion to the rank of colonel (March 2011), I was appointed as Director of Military Training of the Hellenic Military Training (post equivalent to the Dean of the Academy, who is, respectively, responsible for the academic training of the cadets).
I was promoted to the rank of Brigadier General in March 2013 and retired three months later (June 2013).
Since January 2014, I have been employed to the Maritime Security industry traveling in the Middle East area, the Gulf countries (Oman, UAE, Qatar), and East Africa very frequently.
According to the Greek Law, the Hellenic Military Academy is equivalent to a first-level university. Moreover, in accordance with the www.onlinecollege.org, an organization specializing in finding education paths for young people, job counseling and other education topics, the Hellenic Military Academy was ranked 10th among the best most prestigious military academies in the world in April 2012. In September 2012, I prepared and presented the topic that was later published “On the birth and evolution of the ancient Greek polis in the light of the Persian threat” during the Military Academic Forum Reichenau 2012 (MAF) in the Theresianischen Militärakademie, Wiener Neustadt, Austria.
