• Responsible for the collation, analysis and dissemination of notifiable disease data in PHCC.
• Produces a comprehensive annual epidemiological report covering all areas of communicable disease surveillance conducted in PHCC at www.hpsc.ie.
• Produces a comprehensive Quarter epidemiological report covering all areas of communicable disease surveillance conducted in PHCC at www.hpsc.ie.
• Responsibility for control of communicable diseases with the Ministry of public health (National Surveillance Program).
• Provides assistance, as required, in the investigation and management of incidents of communicable disease.
• Monitors vaccine uptake and vaccine effectiveness, particularly in the routine schedule of immunization also monitors Campaigns (influenza vaccine uptake in healthcare workers and high risk group).
• Monitors detection emerging threats e.g. MERS- Cove, etc.
• Conducts research into communicable disease to provide evidence for policy changes.
• Committed to training and professional development. All staff are encouraged to participate in training activities which are available within health protection or externally.
• Training of medical staff on Electronic Notification Form, surveillance.
• Participate in many external working groups and are required to provide evidence-based guidance.
• Participation in maintaining and developing health policy and Guidelines that compliment PHCC goals.
• Guidelines on communicable disease prevention, surveillance and control.
• Involved in many activities at Health Protection surveillance including surveillance work, outbreak investigations, research, teaching and scientific communications.
• Participate in scientific meetings organized by external clinical and laboratory societies.
• Participate in designated supervision usually changes with each cohort. (Supervisors are identified depending on the subject-matter expertise, The areas of specialty include respiratory infections, vaccine preventable diseases, , and hepatitis, and STIs, antimicrobial resistance and healthcare associated infections and emergency planning.
KEY Activities
• Preparing the annual plan of work of the Unit and submit them to the administration the center.
• Setting a baseline database for faculty members at the Academy In coordination with the unit
• Evaluation and follow-up and management of the Center.
• .Documenting the data and statistical information about the numbers qualitative development of faculty members in cooperation with the unit libraries and technology transfer.
• .Prepare and propose programs to develop the knowledge and skills potential for faculty members and their assistants through workshops, training courses and any other method developed to not conflict with the objectives and evaluation of academic
• Reporting calendar and ways of development and submitted to the director of the center.
• Participate in studies curriculum in line with the local educational developments, and global.
Conduct research related to the planning of the educational process, and development, and study weaknesses, and shortcomings.
• Follow developments of scientific, technical, and cooperation with regional organizations, and for the conduct of international educational research, educational and that contribute to improving teaching and learning at the Academy
