7) Developing digital workflow for climate risk assessment in South Asia and Southeast Asia
I have developed generic workflow for assessing the CMIP6 climate model data to facilitate the climate risk screening. The workflow is scripted in R and it will auto download the required CMIP6 climate model data for the given selected area of interest. Further, the data can be analysed and produced stats and visualization plots (generally climate stripes). This workflow is successfully applied in various climate risk assessment projects including for Philippines, Laos, Nepal, Bangladesh, and India

8) CEDA Data Downloader
I developed a generic tool that can download data from CEDA Archive particularly HadUK and UKCP data. Further, it will extract the data for the given area of interest.

9) Investigating Urban Heat Island (UHI) for National Trust, UK
As part of the team, I contributed and lead the assessment of satellite-derived land surface temperature for UHI assessment.

Post Doctoral Researcher at Indian Institute of Technology Rookee
  • India - Roorkee
  • July 2020 to December 2021

As a Post Doctoral Research Associate, I played a key role in development of rainfall Intensity-Duration Frequency (IDF) curves over India under non-stationary climatic condition. His contribution is extensively on large amount of Climate Data Analysis and construction of IDF curves with fine spatial and temporal resolution using various statistical methods. Further, I was also supported in developing a web-based tool for retrieving the design rainfall from IDF curves. I was also involved in a project called ‘Impacts of recent ENSO on the Water-Energy-Food Nexus in South Asia’, where I focused on large amount of climate data analysis. Apart from the research and Geospatial data analysis, I mentored master’s and Ph.D. scholars in the Department of Water Resources Development and Management at IIT Roorkee.

Hydraulic modeler at AtkinsRealis
  • India - Bengaluru
  • December 2019 to June 2020

Waste water network modelling for UK water companies. Further, developed process automation tools for hydraulic modelling. Design consulting for sever network

Dec 2019 - June 2020 (Project listed in reverse chronology):

1) Stage 3 Assessment for NI Water catchments using ICM, UK
I played a critical role, with focusing on model update (Population, GIS data and future schemes), simulation for different scenarios and involved in flood risk assessment. And developed various automation tool to facilitate the different tasks in model build and verification.

2) OC Strategy Reporter Tool
As part of Stage 3 assessment for NI Water catchment, this tool was developed in R for automate the GIS analysis. This tool analyses pipe blockage locations and summarize the major blockage locations.

3) QA Information Sheets Updater Tool
This tool has been built based on the NI Water QA sheet template. It automates the manual updating of QA sheet information.

4) Survey Card Extractor Tool
I developed this tool to extract survey card details such as survey location, section detail, Upstream and downstream manhole details, pipe grades etc. from large number of PDF files. Hence, it eliminates the cumbersome work of opening each PDF files manually. It has been built based on the survey card from McAllister Group with NI water.

5) Flow data file Editor
I developed this tool in Python for editing the bulk number FDV format files. Hence, it eliminates the cumbersome work of opening each PDF files manually.

Research Scholar at National Institute of Technology Karnataka
  • India - Mangalore
  • July 2014 to November 2019

As a PhD Research Scholar, I worked on Soil Moisture Variability and Hydrologic Impact Assessment of Land Cover Change. Major focus of his Ph.D. research was to evaluate the potential of Variable Infiltration Capacity (VIC, a macro-scale land surface model) model for simulating the hydrological responses of a large agricultural dominant catchment (about 45, 000 km2) with improved model vegetation parameterization and assess the effects of heterogeneities in Land Use Land Cover on the flow regime of the catchment at finer spatial scale (about 5.5 km). And, to understand spatio-temporal dynamics of the soil moisture using Remote Sensing and modelling approaches to identify the optimal sampling locations for setting up soil moisture observational network at regional scale.

Research contributions from the Ph.D. work: (i) Development of a new framework for vegetation parameterization in the VIC model using satellite-derived MODIS-LAI data, (ii) a detailed assessment of LU/LC impacts at finer grid scale (5.5 km) and (iii) Integrated approach of assessing the spatio-temporal dynamics of soil moisture at multiple soil layer with heterogeneity in LU/LC and identification of optimal monitoring locations in the data scarce study region. I published my major research findings in reputed international journals and presented in various international conferences.

Key achievements:
Secured Government of India fellowship for PhD (2014 - 2019).
Awarded prestigious AGU’s Student grant from American Geophysical Union for presenting my research work at AGU Fall Meeting during December 10 - 14, 2018, Washington, D.C., USA. (Highly competitive and I was one among the 200 recipients around the world in the year 2018).
