CURRENT JOB:

Ex-Minister of Justice. From 2 July 2017 to 14 May 2018. Since 13 May 2019 I have joined Al-Qamra Holding Co. as the Group Legal Director and Secretary to the Board.

As from 21 October to July 2017 occupying the office of Head of the Legal Department, Senior Legal Adviser & Secretary to the Board of Hassad Foods Company, a Qatari shareholding company fully owned by Qatar Holding Company/Qatar Investment Authority. In addition to my job as a head of a big legal team including 6 senior lawyers and 5 supporting staff, I have been during the past two years in a variety of legal activities including M&A transactions, drafting of policies and procures, international litigation and arbitration, reviewing legal works pertaining to the company business activities in Australia, India, ...etc., beside my duties as Board Secretary. The nature of Hassad Food as agricultural company added value to my past experience in heavy industry.

Legal Department Manager & Secretary to the Board at Qatar Steel Company

* 2001- 2012 I have been working with Qatar Steel Company as the Legal Department Manager, Senior Legal Advisor and Secretary to the Board. This 12 Years experience witnessed a variety of legal works, communications and discussions with H.E. the Chairman Mr. Yousuf Kamal, H.E. the Vice Chairman Dr. Mohamed Bin Salih Al Sada and close activities with H.E. Sheikh Nasser Bin Hamad Al Thani. During this period my activities covered areas of initial public offering (IPO), expansions and project financing, facility agreements with banks, EPC contract with contractors, direct agreements, infrastructure construction, power supply agreements, establishment of legal entities, joint ventures and shareholders agreements, shares sale and purchase agreements, goods sale and purchase agreements, services agreements, intellectual property, securities, insurance, taxation, mergers & acquisitions, commercial agencies, arbitration, litigations...etc. In addition to legal works I assumed the activities relating to Board and General Assembly meetings. As one of the top management team I have participated in many managerial activities just like steering committee, ethics committee, rent committee, investigation committee, …etc.
• 1997 - 2000I have been working as the only legal advisor forthe Eastern Petrochemical Company (SHARQ). SHARQ is one of the most successful affiliate of SABIC - Saudi Basic Industries Corporation- rated as the second largest company after Aramco in Saudi Arabia. SHARQ had - at that time- four petrochemical plants (in Jubail) and over 1000 employees.Among the major achievements in SHARQ, I have been fully involved in the negotiations for the major expansion and had the honour to draft and prepare the Off-Shore and On-Shore Contracts of the 2nd Expansion of SHARQ. Part of the activities was participation in the negotiations and meetings with the lawyers and directors of the multinational contractors who carried out the expansion works, liaison with foreign lawyers to secure financing of the project by international banks up to the stage of the signing ceremony which took place in Japan.

• 2000- 2001 I have spent one year as a senior legal Advisor of Al- MaraiGroup, the largest milk producer in Saudi Arabia, but because I preferred to continue my career in the field of heavy industries, I have resigned from Al-Marai in July 2001 and joined my current position.

• 1990 - 1997 employed as a legal advisor in the Law Firm of Salah Al-Hejailan one of the largest law firms in the Middle East. The Firm is associated with two international legal firms, namely: the London-based Clifford Chance firm and the US firm of Graham & James. Contact with the Western lawyers seconded by these two international firms enhanced my knowledge of the common law. My activities included drafting and reviewing of legal memoranda and contracts, verification of pleadings and agreements translation, appearing before courts on behalf of the firm’s clients, making comments on commercial contracts, participation in drafting and documentation of banking transactions including loan agreements and Islamic financing transactions based on Mudaraba and Murabaha, etc.
• 1988 - 1990 acting as a legal advisor and vice president of legal department of Al-Juraisy Group. This period was rich of various types of legal practices. Although Al-Juraisy Group consists of more than 33 branches Kingdom-wide, there was no internal legal department for the Group. In cooperation with Dr. Hilal - an Egyptian lawyer - I set up the legal department of Al-Juraisy Group, a department which now comprising a staff of eight (8) employees, including five (5) legal advisors. My job responsibilities included comments on contract settlement of disputes, standardization of commercial agency and distributorship contracts, drafting of company rules and policies, etc.

• 1985 - 1988 acting as a legal advisor for Saudi Ministry of PTT.
