• Assigned in OB/Maternal and Pediatrics inpatient ward. Doing admission assessment for both OB/Maternal and pediatric cases.
• Preparing OB/Maternal cases for Cesarean section or normal delivery operation. This includes following a pre-operative checklist preparation designed to fully prepare a patient for surgery.
• Doing CTG (Cardiotocography) to monitor fetal heart rate and uterine contractions.
• Doing intravenous cannulations and blood extractions, also inserting Indwelling Foley catheter as ordered.
• Giving vaccinations to newborn and doing newborn screening (PKU), hearing test and CHD (Cardiac) screening.
• Giving babies sponge bath after 48 hours of life or prior to discharge.
• Administering medications, this includes giving of controlled and narcotic medications as per physician’s order and doing vital signs to patients. Transcribing prescribed medications from doctor’s order in the electronic system.
• Doing early ambulation for OB/Maternal patients post-surgery.
• Assessment documentation includes ‘Humpty Dumpty’ precaution for pediatric patients and ‘Morse Fall’ codes for adult patients. Doing Pain assessment for both adult and pediatric patients.
• Giving of discharge instruction and medications for patients who are about to be discharged.
The ‘City’ is a 430 bed capacity rehabilitation hospital accredited by JCI and CARF. Units include Traumatic Brain injury area, Spinal Cord Injury, Pediatric Inpatient and Outpatient rehabilitation departments, a unit dedicated for women’s only rehabilitation, Prosthetics and Orthotics department and Home Health Care among others.

This includes:
• Coordination and development of all CDC nursing services
• Liaison between pediatric outpatient clinics and CDC to facilitate flow of information between both parties and to optimize the functioning of the interdisciplinary team.
• Collaborative services with the CDC interdisciplinary team to provide nursing services and education to children with special needs and their families.
• Provide direct patient care by performing assessments, planning of care, implementation and evaluation of a pediatric patient group in the clinic setting.
• Medication administration including a process to verify, administer, and document the medication correctly and safely based on medication error.
• Development of programs, policies, and procedures regarding the provision of pediatric educational nursing services including education pamphlets for families.
• Participation in the interdisciplinary team process to promote optimum independence and success in the child’s life.
• Provision of professional, competent and culturally sensitive services to the staff, patients and families of the Humanitarian City.
An outpatient clinic with specialties that includes: Pediatrics, Ears, Nose and Throat specialty, Obstetrics-Gynecology, Orthopedic, Dentistry (Orthodontic, Pedodontics and Oral Surgery) and General Medicine.
Job Responsibilities:
• Conducts the intake procedures of each patient coming in the clinic. Record information regarding the patient's medical history, current health status and symptoms the patient is experiencing.
• Primary assessment: Takes the vital signs of the patient and other pertinent facts the doctor needs to identify and treat the medical problem.
• Prepares the equipment and instrument to be used by the attending physician.
• Delivers the necessary emergency drugs as ordered by the doctor.
• Checks vaccination records of the patients and gives timely vaccines as required.
• Assists the doctor during patient assessment procedure.
• Records every medicine and vaccine given on the patient’s file.
• Checks vaccine/medicine expiry and remaining stocks. Informs the Head Nurse if a stock needs replacing.
• Checks the medical equipment periodically to make sure it works properly.
• Cleaning of equipment and instruments to maintain sanitary conditions
Job Responsibilities:
• Under general direction, manages and directs nursing care activities and coordinates care planning with other disciplines.
• Delivers direct patient care. Takes vital signs and assesses patient’s physical, psychosocial and/or emotional needs.
• Triages patients and informs physician of patient status.
• Gives medical treatments under the supervision of doctors.
• Administers medication as ordered by the attending physician.
• Serves as a resource person for knowledge of medication uses, side effects, and dosage.
• Assists the doctors during their medical rounds and carry-out doctor’s order.
• Checks and maintains IV patency of each patient.
• Stocks and maintains patient’s rooms.
• Ensures complete and proper documentation of all patient care.
• Obtains required consent forms.
• Assists and educates patients regarding any diagnostic tests they will undergo.
• Educates patients of medication administration.
With a diploma of Bachelor Of Science in Nursing with a total of 42 units (2,160 hrs) in Related Learning Experience. Exposed to various clinical facilities as a student. A dean's lister and a member of a student organization.
