• Assigned in OB/Maternal and Pediatrics inpatient ward. Doing admission assessment for both OB/Maternal and pediatric cases.
• Preparing OB/Maternal cases for Cesarean section or normal delivery operation. This includes following a pre-operative checklist preparation designed to fully prepare a patient for surgery.
• Doing CTG (Cardiotocography) to monitor fetal heart rate and uterine contractions.
• Doing intravenous cannulations and blood extractions, also inserting Indwelling Foley catheter as ordered.
• Giving vaccinations to newborn and doing newborn screening (PKU), hearing test and CHD (Cardiac) screening.
• Giving babies sponge bath after 48 hours of life or prior to discharge.
• Administering medications, this includes giving of controlled and narcotic medications as per physician’s order and doing vital signs to patients. Transcribing prescribed medications from doctor’s order in the electronic system.
• Doing early ambulation for OB/Maternal patients post-surgery.
• Assessment documentation includes ‘Humpty Dumpty’ precaution for pediatric patients and ‘Morse Fall’ codes for adult patients. Doing Pain assessment for both adult and pediatric patients.
• Giving of discharge instruction and medications for patients who are about to be discharged.
