Roles and Responsibilities
• Carries out the physician’s verbal/written order as requested for any diagnostic and
therapeutic procedure under pulmonary services.
• Reads prescription, measures arterial blood gases and reviews patient information to
assess patient condition and determine requirements for treatment, such as type and
duration of therapy, medication and dosages.
• Determines most suitable method of administering inhalants, precautions to be observed
and modifications which may be needed that will be compatible with physician’s orders
• Develops plan of care based on assessment data and standards of care.

• Performs therapy modalities and provides ventilatory assistance to patients as ordered by
physician.
• Performs PPD Tuberculin Skin Testing

• Performed general floor therapy, including MDI, CPT, pulse oximetry, incentive spirometry,
CPAP and BiPAP therapy, set up, maintenance and troubleshooting.

• Transport patients to CT, MRI, ICU, and OR with portable mechanical ventilator
(PNEUPAC/PARAPAC).

• Assists patient in performing breathing exercises.
• Performs test procedures according to Pulmonary Standard Operating Procedures
(SOP’s)
• Sets up and operates devices such as mechanical ventilators, therapeutic gas
administration apparatus, environmental control systems and aerosol generators.
• Ensures the performance of calibration, quality control procedure and maintenance check
of all machines
• Performs minor trouble shooting of any machines.
• Performs calibration of the Ventilators (ESPRIT, HAMILTON C2) and Bipap (VISION)
machine.
• Performs ventilator management, maintenance and troubleshooting, ETT placement, cuff
maintenance and troubleshooting, and weaning protocols.
• Assess and performs ventilator weaning and spontaneous breathing trials.
• Set-up and operates Nasal High Flow
• Operates Neopuff Infant T-piece Resuscitator
• Monitors patient’s physiological responses to therapy such as vital signs, arterial blood
gases and blood chemistry changes.
• Monitors patient’s conditions and reactions and report any abnormal signs to physicians.
• Checks the equipment for proper function, operations, and cleanliness. This includes but
not limited to the following: mechanical ventilators, oxygen analyzers, demand valves,
manual resuscitators, spirometers, suctioning equipment, oral/nasal airways and tracheal
tubes.
• Listens and attends verbal customer’s complaints/ concerns and when necessary,
facilitates endorsement to immediate superiors for an immediate response.
• Observes and supports Environment Of Care (EOC) standards in all working area by
following its criteria strictly.
