As a Transmission Planning Director, I'm responsible for leading and directing the strategic planning efforts related to the transmission network through:
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for the transmission network to support the overall business goals and objectives.
- Lead a team of network planners in designing and optimizing the transmission network infrastructure for performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Assess current and future capacity requirements, collaborating with other departments to translate their needs into network capacity plans.
- Manage the allocation of resources, including budget, personnel, and equipment, to support effective network planning activities.
- Stay informed about regulatory requirements and standards, ensuring network plans comply with relevant regulations.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, operations, and finance, to integrate network planning activities seamlessly.
- Identify and assess risks associated with network planning activities, developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
- Work with vendors and suppliers to evaluate and select network equipment and technologies, negotiating contracts and agreements.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the transmission network and implement monitoring tools to track performance.
- Provide regular updates to senior management and other stakeholders on network planning initiatives and key metrics.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of transmission network planning processes.
- Foster a culture of innovation and adaptability within the network planning team.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the network planning team, facilitating training and development programs.
Ensure assigned projects are being completed within budget and schedule while meeting client requirements and business objectives.
• Initiate and set goals for Sr. Projects Managers according to the strategic objectives of the organization.
• Plan the projects from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones, and processes.
• Develops project prioritization based on needs and escalation of projects.
• Making strategic decisions and providing leadership and direction to Sr. Project Managers to implement those decisions.
• Meeting with vendors, stakeholders, and project managers to report on project progress.
• Apply change, risk and resource management principles to avoid delays.
• Budget management of circa 1 billion EGP.
• Ensuring permits and legal papers are secured ahead of the project.
• Manage the timely integration of transport networks and retirement of legacy networks according to the network roadmap.
• Ensure that all transport network assets are capitalized as per finance rules and regulations and on time.
• Apply professional project management tools and techniques for effective management of Network rollout projects within time and budget.
• Ensure timely monitoring and management of KPIs in order to meet defined targets and manage timely reporting of KPIs to Performance Management.
• Contribute to the annual Technology BU strategic plan and initiatives.
• Devise evaluation strategies to monitor performance and determine the need for improvements.
• Supervise all project managers involved to provide feedback and resolve complex problems.
• Discover ways to enhance efficiency and productivity of procedures and people.
• Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies.
• Keep senior management informed with detailed and accurate reports or presentations.
• Revise and/or formulate policies and promote their implementation.
• Manage relationships/agreements with internal and external partners/vendors.
- Accountable for the End-to-End Project Delivery for Operations Functions and external customers within agreed budget and timelines.
- Manage related project budget and deliver high quality service transition to O&M and its stakeholders.
- Manage key stakeholders in the projects delivery chain, own the project communication and alignment between the business strategy and transmission projects team at management and project levels
- Accountable for Integration, Implementation, rollout strategy and communication to stakeholders.
Duties and responsibility:
- installation, operation and maintenance of Siemens SDH/DWDM transmission systems ( PCM30H, SMA1K, SMA 1/4, SMA16, SLD 16, SL 64, hiT7070/50, hiT7300).
- installation, operation and maintenance of Huawei SDH/DWDM transmission systems ( OSN 5800, 3500, 2500 and 1500 )
- Coordination with engineering planning, operations group to define the Telecom Egypt transmission network needs to achieve the required
bandwidth.
- Responsible for ensuring that appropriate equipment can support line protection and restoration schemes such as (1+1, 1:N, BSHR).
- Site survey for the stations to define any requirements for installation (such as space, power, A.C …).
- Material Inventory and quality audit.
- checking the installation documentation as per the contract and survey report.
- Install, Test and commission the NEs as per engineering design documents.
- Performing the system acceptance test and stability test (ie SDH features like Performance Monitoring, Alarms, and Protection etc).
- Integration of new NEs to the existing SDH/DWDM network.
- Transferring the existing traffic to the new NEs by making traffic shifts.
- Punch point clearance as the part of acceptance test.
- Fiber management in ODF, E1 cable and power cable routing
- Vendor and contractor coordination
- Responsible for configuring and testing the new optical links with other operators
- Co-ordination with various teams including the planning, operations, and business during implementing services/solutions provided to the clients
