• Managing technical resources performing (self-performing) oil and gas Exploration/Production energy project preliminary design; design review; site assessment; assessing the need for and upgrading electrical power systems planning and grid interconnection services; energy/power estimates; technology evaluation and risk assessment; EPC evaluation, selection, and monitoring; detailed system and component modelling; technical report writing, utility interconnection and transmission evaluation; site inspections; contract review of EPC, O&M, and performance guarantees; CAPEX and OPEX benchmarking; operations and maintenance review; financial modelling and review; regulatory compliance; construction monitoring; equipment commissioning and testing.
• Provide technical expertise in Conceptual Engineering, FEED, Engineering Procurement Construction, Long Lead Items Procurement Engineering, Project Management, Inspection and Testing at Vendor’s shop for the New Projects and Expansion Projects, Plant Modifications study. Assist in Integrity troubleshooting, site testing and shutdowns to maintain electrical equipment effectively and efficiently to achieve high degree of availability, reliability and integrity for plant production.
• Ensure that the requirements of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Integrated Operations Philosophy are fully identified and addressed in the design, construction and commissioning of the facilities; and ensure efficient integration with Operations to provide timely operations preparedness activities, both by the Project and Facility Asset Teams.
• Leadership assurance of efficient and optimal contract management and interface with third-party contractors, vendors, consultants, suppliers, etc. on all projects, ensuring each party is aware and delivers in accordance with contractual terms.
• Managing projects identification/conceptualization and ensure fit-for-purpose facilities engineering design for all projects including upgrades to eliminate or minimize variation in project implementation.
• Drive quality and value assurance across all projects ensuring consistent application of best-in-class and agreed technical, safety and project management processes and standards.
• Leadership on getting all permits, approvals and documentation required for projects implementation and completion are obtained timeously to avoid a breach in regulatory requirements and any potential delays in project delivery.
• Support technical advisory services for projects under development, construction, and operation, which may include but are not limited to technical due diligence, construction monitoring, assessment of the project performance, site inspections and project management.
• Works with Project Controls to develop, maintain, and review overall project schedules, milestones, reporting, cost forecasts, and estimates for all project activities; ensures appropriate project controls and change management processes are used on the project. Manages contingency progression/allocation through project closeout.
• Identifies potential hazards during Engineering activities (as applicable) such as Document Review, Design Safety Review workshop, SAFOP, HAZID, ENVID, HAZOP, QRA, FERA, etc., participates in technical meetings, commissioning activities, FAT, SAT, Plant pre-startup safety audits, performance tests raise punch lists and provide support to operations and maintenance teams in various stages of project activities.
• Take responsibility for all projects assigned to department for review and execution.
• Controls and guides the work related to preparation of electrical project Scope of Work, Bill of Quantities, Data and Drawings, contract tendering/processing, technical Bid Evaluation, project implementation. Additionally to providing technical input to projects under other departments.
• Plans, directs and controls all aspects of electrical engineering input and support for project field, as related to new installation, modifications, replacement, demolishment, operation and maintenance.
• Reviews project documents and provides technical suggestion and recommendations, where necessary for project works to ensure the correct, safe and efficient completion and transfer of the new facilities to the end user.
• Plans and controls visual technical checks on site of all existing facilities, reviews reports and directs necessary action to be taken.
• Manage the department of professional engineers and non-professional engineering support staff, meeting company goals for quality and billability.
• Oversee the approval of equipment sizing techniques and develop ratings, complete data sheets, influence cost effective design, vendor selection, acceptance and surveillance, installation methods, redundancy considerations, etc. for electrical equipment including Transformers, Switchgear and Motor Control Center (MCC), AC and DC Uninterrupted Power Supply (UPS), high voltage motor and cables, low and high voltage Variable Frequency Drive (VFD), and miscellaneous equipment (heat tracing, cathodic protection, MOV/EBV, package equipment, etc.
• Apply knowledge of power generation systems and integration with facility power systems, including understanding of design concepts (rating, frame sizes, FSNL run, other mechanical aspects), systems connections and interface with instrumentation, breaker design, Auxiliary systems, Line and Neutral cable and bus duct design, protection system (synchronizing and Island capability), etc.
• Participate in key SAFETY and design reviews (SAFOP, HAZID, HAZOPs, Constructability review etc) Site Acceptance Test (SAT) and Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) so as to take ownership of electrical Design deliverables and Electrical Equipment supplied to or procured by COMPANY.
• Develop fee proposals for new work and track progress of teams on projects.
• Support screening studies, development of design basis and detailed specifications (e.g. transformer sizing with load growth and diversity factors, simple short circuit calculation and large motor voltage drop calculation, utilization voltages, distribution system, development of one line diagrams, Sub-station layout/noise considerations, UPS (AC and DC) system design, VFD application, System Grounding designs (solid vs resistance), basic lighting, etc.
• Develop and monitor project specific execution plans to reconcile scope, budget, and schedule constraints to ensure project success.
• Coordinating and directing the projects and supervising over investigation and correction of maps and project operations in every project, doing the affairs which are related to superintendence of administrative tasks progress, preparing and adjusting required list of goods for projects, doing the affairs which are related to regulating programs and staffs jobs in projects.
• Controlling the executive expenses of every project / Maintenance budgets ($1, 000, 000 to $5, 000, 000, 000) and amounts of executive operations, project schedules/plan and controlling and matching payments with operations.
• Performing the roles and responsibility of the electrical systems discipline head in the facility including interfacing with the corporate discipline head, providing inputs to projects and initiation of best practices and new technology for strategic cost leadership such as trending global changes/improvement in safeguarding, instrumentation and control systems.
• Supplying preliminary assessment and project funding and approving the final estimate and executive operations expenses, confirmation of tiny quantitative surveys and amounts of consumable materials, analysis and administrative expenses for winner determination and coordinating with oil ministry for holding discount sales, investigating and controlling and supervision over conditions and counselors and engineers fees services according to executive operations, handling proceedings and claims of contractors in relation to analysis.
• Studying the description of projects and planning in order to controlling them and preparing reports of project progress.
• Collecting information for construction and engineering projects, power construction and installation / commissioning. Directing research projects, instruction, design services and counseling and over sighting in different fields.
• Responsible for effective implementation and operation of maintenance management system and spares/tools as it relates to electrical, instrument, control and systems to safeguard as-built integrity of the facilities to achieve best value for money throughout the facility life cycle.
• Carry out fire-fighting system integrity checks by executing periodic test to ascertain Asset Reference Plan (ARP).
• Directing and performing development designs in operational districts and replying to plan progress.
• Provide in-depth discipline expertise to the Project Team concerning all aspects of Electrical engineering through front-end engineering, conceptual and detail design, procurement, construction, and commissioning and initial operation. As such, safeguarding of design and operational integrity and continuous improvement of existing and future electrical installations.
• Assist the Electrical Asset Integrity Manager in reviewing and preparing the annual Operation and Maintenance budgets and other CAPEX expansion projects; responsible for ensuring the integrated multi-utility department expenditures are within the limitation of project budgets for CAPEX expansion and the annual budget for Operation and Maintenance activities; supervise expenditures and the preparation of bid requests as needed. Develop, implement and manage utility infrastructure and manage future CAPEX improvement and expansion projects.
• Am responsible for Preparation and updating the materials take-off taking into consideration that design quantities and specifications do not surpass the allocated budget for the project, define specifications for new materials used in the project while protecting both the company and the client’s interests.
• Report regularly to the Electrical Asset Integrity Manager of concerning the status of project infrastructure handover at Offshore; update on the status and result of departmental operations and CAPEX improvement projects; represent the multi-utility technical and operations department at meetings with other departmental units and support front office functions when needed to deal with complaints and other issues with end users and owners associations.
• In-charge of training and supervising electricians on board, Pipe laying barge, Derrick laying barge, and jack-up vessel, Oil/ gas platforms in Installations. Supervising the maintenance and repair of electrical components of vessel, VFD drives, IAS systems, UPS, Power management systems(PMS), sewage plants, H2S, Gas and fire monitoring systems, water treatment plants, Central HVAC systems, ballast system, Cranes, Pipe tensioner, welding machine stations, High voltage, low voltage and Electronic low voltage transformers and electric motors, Motor control center panel (MCC), Electronic Engine management system (ECM/ECU), Power Generation sets, Air compressors, Galley equipment, Food chillers and freezer, Hand tools, Overboard Submersible pumps, and setting up a periodic maintenance schedule for continuous duty equipment’s. Maintain sufficient spares are on board. Work hand in hand with the construction crew and monitor all electrical safety system are in place during work on platforms, provide technical advice and implement MOC on new upgrades of Electrical system.
• Am responsible for Designing, maintaining, implementing, or improving electrical instruments, facilities, components, equipment products, or systems for industrial, commercial or domestic purposes.
• Assist in establishing and updating maintenance strategies including recognition of ageing and obsolete equipment.
• Ensure that the condition and operation of the equipment are in line with overall procedures, regulations, any unit-specific procedures and CONTRACTOR Performance Standards.
• Review and approve amendments to electrical equipment operational procedures, including, isolation standards, system and equipment testing, run to failure (RTF) etc.
• Provide technical leadership on electrical equipment including but not limited to variable frequency drives, large motors, turbo generators, high and low voltage switchgear, electrical distribution and power management systems, UPS, lighting and small power and earthing/grounding systems.
• Inform Senior Engineers and other department heads of any technical problem or limitations that may affect the safe operation of the barge and offshore operation.
• Install, troubleshoot, and maintain electrical equipment including tank levels, steering gear, bow thruster motor, pressure instrumentation, safety switches, automation timers, chromatographs, electric motors and pumps, wiring conduits, motor starters, Caterpillar Auxiliary Engineer (Generators)x2 (model 3412, S/N1 41202413, S/N2 - 41202413, Power 536KW at 1800rpm, Caterpillar Emergency Engine (Generator)x1 (model 3406C, S/N 40600930, Power 277KW at 1800rpm, lighting system, control panels, voltage regulators, rectifiers, transformers, gas detectors, heat/smoke detector and fire alarm systems.
• Carry out checks and maintenance on electrical equipment such as submersible pump(slip ring), sewage treatment unit, oily water separator (PPM), Seatrax crane (electric sensors load cell) and other electrical maintenance on the crane, accommodation HVAC supply fan system, water heater, air compressor unit motors, AC condensers, steering alarm unit/steering system pumps, 24 volts battery used for emergency lights, emergency radar, and emergency rescue boat davit, Motor Control Center emergency MCC, and interpret electrical and electronic schematic diagrams.
• Experience with high power HV and LV electrical motor and electrical operation and maintenance.
• Participate and supervise pre-detail & detail engineering activities for the main packages, to ensure that maintenance requirements are taken into consideration: operability, maintainability, Inspectability.
• Control that the proper documents & data required for maintenance have been duly obtained and filed, to check that the progress measurement of Electrical Industrial Engineering (MIE) activities gives realistic information.
• Participate in Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) studies to be sure that maintenance requirements are taken into consideration and are implemented.
• Supervise, review and validate the activities in relation with identification, selection and procurement of spare parts (commissioning/capital/control) and specific tools including inspection, shipment deliveries and storage in the subsidiary warehouse for all equipment (vendors items/package & storage).
• Coordinate the preparation and the implementation of data to be loaded in the Computerised Maintenance Management System (Marine Electrical PM Tool).
• Evaluate and suggest an improvement to the maintenance department polices system and procedures. Support established change initiative to improve maintenance department.
• Diagnose faults on defective equipment ensuring that all work is adequately monitored, carried out safely and is fit for purpose.
• Assist the Pipe & Mechanical Fitters, Welders, OCS, in Fabrication of Riser Claps, Pipelines & other related activities.
• Review the quality of the information in the maintenance database, such that the information contained in technical valid, accurate and up to date.
• Ensuring that operations on all Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance, both Corrective and Preventative are carried out safe and proper manner.
• Ensure compliance with the permit to work systems and isolation standards.
• Carry out operational maintenance and repair on the Platform, its equipment and arrangement as instructed by the Offshore Construction Supervisor (OCS).
• Plan and organize the work activity of the electrical and instrument technicians such that all planned and unplanned work is progressed to a satisfactory completion.
• Maintain an adequate supply of spare parts to fulfil Maintenance requirements and facilitate a safe and efficient operation.
• Assist with the maintenance and repair of general equipment such as Grinding Machines (Bosch, GWS 20-230H and Bosch Pencil, GGS-27 Professional), Miller Big Blue 500x (Diesel Powered Welding Generator), Air Compressor (Airman PDS 400s), Water Pump (Lister Peter, Tseries Model), 342KVA Diesel Generator, etc.
• Always prepared to participate in activities not directly associated with my primary functions.
• Assist the Chief Electrician in Installation, Maintenance and Repair of all Electrical equipment on the rig site.
• Carry out maintenance and repair on electrical components of drilling equipment, i.e. DC drilling motors and auxiliaries, Driller’s Console Indication lamps, service BOP system including terminating fibre optic cable, NOV KEMS (Kinetic Energy Monitoring System), Mud Pumps, AC and DC Electric Motors, Rig Floor Electrical items, Sensors, Koommey Unit, Shale Shaker pump, Dog House, Control Valves, control panel, HVAC systems, etc.
• Perform daily inspections and maintenance on electrical equipment Comply with the permit to work and isolation systems before the day’s operations.
• Inform supervisors and other department heads of any technical problems or limitation that may affect the safe operation of the rig site.
• Carrying out Disaster preventive measures such as Earthing, Installation of thunder arrestor, and Proper Insulation of electrical power cables, termination points and transmission lines with the use of cable protector kits.
• Supplying information required for updating of any drawings, sketches or information on existing and replacement equipment.
• Providing technical services to drilling superintendents and Materials department on the supply of parts for maintenance schedules carry out technical inspection of spare parts received from suppliers.
• Assist in performing and interpreting power calculations, power factor, insulation tests, and positive relay tests as at required.
• Conducting rig down and rig up operations (before every rig move), recording information of the electrical and running system.
• Maintain, troubleshoot and repair all power generation and distribution equipment, i.e. generators and engine controls, switchgears, transformers, sensors, welder machines and its accessories, etc.
• Carry out periodic maintenance according to the Rig Maintenance System (RMS) guidelines and coordinate that Maintenance with supervisor and other department heads.
• Installation of Electrical facilities and equipment (Single & Three-phase) such as Distribution Boxes, Contactors, Circuit Breaker (ABB), Relays, Electrical Fitting, Surge Protectors, Power and Control Circuit, Change-over switches for two or more Power Sources etc and worked on Pneumatic controllers, Voltage regulators, etc.
• Maintenance up-to-date unit maintenance log, calibration and other records relating to the service.
• Lead and execute unit start-up and performance tests ensuring proper and safe operation of the machine by evaluating the running parameters and troubleshoot control system problem as they arise.
• Responsible for the development of technical content of the maintenance concept required in the field of Electrical Engineering, distribution networks, PDCS, UPS, HVAC including the responsibility for Maintenance plans, Spare Parts recommendation, Work Procedures in accordance with the Maintenance policy, Company Specifications and Safety Standards.
• Follow up on electrical support for the updating of the maintenance plans, may involve procedures drafting, drawings issuance, studies performance, spare parts identification reviews, tools reviews, documentation filing, binding or data capture in computerized systems.
• Assist the Data Engineer -ADT and Logging Geologist/Engineer in Real-time monitoring of all drilling activities, cuttings samples collection, preparation and description, Hydrocarbon show analysis, prepare and plot all logs and reports.
• Interpreting of drilling data and give feedback to Data Engineer, Drilling teams and Wellsite Geologist.
• Recording the day to day activities on the drilling site, integration of geological data and monitoring of drilling parameters.
• Ensure that all Mud Logging equipment’s and sensors are calibrated and functional.
• Collecting samples from shale shake during drilling and also analysis of samples.
• Updating survey data, monitoring of mud pit gain or loss and monitoring direction of drilling.
• Use of Petron mud logging software system and Quantitative Gas Measurement Software, the building of Petron geological log, showing the formation of drilling parameters.
• Troubleshooting and calibration of Petron equipment such as Gas Chromatograph, pit volume totalizer, pit sensor, hook load, flow sensor, computer desktop system, pump-stroke counter, temperature sensor, stroke counter sensor, gas trap sensor, torque sensor, etc.
• Rigging up and down of Petron computerized mud-logging unit.
