Duties and Responsibilities:
Key Tasks:
.1 Set-up and prepare the surgery for the type of patient and treatment planned before the start of each session
2. Test autoclave before the start of each morning and afternoon session, keeping all necessary recordings
3. Prepare the necessary materials and instruments
4. Provide clinical assistance to the dentists while treating the patient, under his/her supervision
5. Take all reasonable methods to ensure patient comfort
6. Continually interpret the needs of the patients and dentists and deal with them promptly and efficient
7. Assist in the correct procedure for dental radiography
8. Ensure safe disposal of sharps and clinical waste
9. Check patients medical history information is up to date and warn the dentists of any problems noted
10. Chart and update patients records on the computer as necessary, and assist the dentists in the completion of records
11. Clean and sterilize all equipment and working surfaces to the required standards at the end of each session, including the sterilizing room
12. Ensure that all necessary laboratory work is returned and ready for each session.
13. Follow Health & Safety Codes, guidelines at all times, including when taking x-rays, handling mercury, disposing of sharps and clinical waste, resuscitation, emergency procedures and fire drill

❖ manual checking of vital signs (BP, RR, HR, Temperature)
