Position - P3 Design and Construction Director

Reporting to the Executive VP Engineering and Construction responsible for overseeing and managing design, construction and quality for the Gordie Howe International Bridge $5.7 Billion project being delivered through a public-private partnership (P3). liaison with Owner’s Engineer (OE- Parsons), Bridging North America (P3 Contractor JV - ACS-Dragados-Flour and Aecon and AECOM is the Design Engineer), Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) to coordinate all engineering and field work. To provide leadership and direction to professional and technical specialists within the design, procurement, construction, and quality teams. Manage all aspects of design and construction oversight and contract administration including bridges, roads and buildings. As team lead, attending project construction/design meetings ensuring all requirements are fully implemented and issues are resolved. Oversee project design and construction schedules to ensure compliance with timelines. Work with Risk Manager to identify project risks and mitigation strategies.
Oversee safety program aspects of the Project. Oversee onsite and offsite fabrication and precast construction to monitor compliance with Project Technical Requirements. Oversee inspection and acceptance of the roads, bridges and building works as well as the commissioning activities. Responsible for providing effective leadership by planning, directing and overseeing the work of direct reports. Ensure protocols for a healthy and safe work environment are implemented and followed. Lead employees using a performance management and development process that includes goal setting, feedback, and performance development planning. Work with Human Resources to recruit and retain staff. Work collaboratively with Project Independent Certifier to review information concerning project certifications.

Summary of Position
Assisting with the preparation of the Cairo Metro Line 4 Phase 1 - CP401 & CP402 bid proposal.

The project: 
The Greater Cairo Metro Line 4 is a new project that will be constructed in two phases and will ultimately run from Hadaek El Ashgar Station in west Cairo to a station at New Cairo in east Cairo, to the south of the International Airport. The overall distance will be approximately 43km. Phase 1; the current project, will be the western section of an overall length 18.8km approximately, with a terminal station at El Malek El Saleh and an extension to a “Turn-back Point” a further 1.3km to the east at El Fustat. 

Phase 1 
: will be comprised of four contracts: 
CP401: Civil and Building Works, Section -0.100km to +10.730km; cut & cover transition structure, twin tunnels and eight (8) stations. Approximate Value US$B1.5. 
CP402: Civil and Building Works, Section +10.730km to +18.685km; twin tunnels and eight (8) stations with Turn-back Point. Approximate Value US$B1.5. 
CP411: Railway Systems, Track and Depot Works. CP412: Rolling Stock.

Position responsibilities include: ensuring the projects are effectively being delivered to a high quality, on schedule, in a safe manner, properly managing risk, and minimizing impact to affected third parties. Facilitate as required, the necessary approvals from utility authorities and other government agencies, monitor and accurately inform management of issues, risks and progress, intervene when necessary on urgent matters which may result in loss, damage, a safety hazard, or jeopardize the project in some way and inform successful performance by the PMC (KBR) and Design and Supervision consultant (AECOM) who report directly to Area Leader.

AECOM is responsible to provide: engineering design and project management for citywide storm water, flood-control long-term solutions against flooding, and wastewater infrastructure improvement program.

2nd - The Jazan Economic City Port and Infrastructure (JECPI) - US$1billion. The Jazan Economic City (JEC) is to become KSA's most prestigious, state of the art integrated economic development project and city through creating an unparalleled environment for energy related industries, which will further enhance Saudi Arabia's economic standing on the world scene. AECOM is responsible for most aspects of the Program to FEED Development work execution, complete master planning, architectural, concept design development of Jazan Economic City port and infrastructure, cost estimates, equipment and material specifications, procurement assistance and supervision of detail design by others, Construction Management Services and support activities through mechanical completion, commissioning, and start up. I am managing the PMO for the program.

3rd - Middle Ring Road (MRR), US$2.5 billion. The MRR Program will involve design, construction management of Bridges (80+), Roads and Highways, Utilities and infrastructures. AECOM responsible to providing project management services including: consultancy, engineering design, and construction management for an approximately 90 km long highway connecting south and north Jeddah.
