Research work on one project:
Researcher is responsible for evaluation of multifunctional nanomaterials as antimicrobial agent in water disinfection processes. Again, the nanomaterials are also applied in environmental remediation such as industrial dye photodegradation, volatile organic photoreduction and atmospheric CO2 reduction. Scopes of application of those nanomaterials in practical case is a part of this project.
Research work on one project:
Disinfection by-products (DBPs) formation is observed by application of disinfectants such as chlorine, chloramines, chlorine dioxide, chlorine gas, ozone and ultraviolet unit in desalinated drinking water treatment. The desalination processes considered for the project are multi-stage flash distillation (MSF), reverse osmosis (RO) and multiple-effect distillation (MED). Two treatment plants are located in Ajman area, UAE and one plant is located in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Researcher was responsible for developing a model for on-site wastewater treatment system drainfield. The model is developed to find out the end-point of denitrification process in the drainfield to reduce the nitrate contamination in the groundwater.
Research experiences in 3 projects:
a) Removal of nutrient (basically nitrogen and phosphorus species) from storm water by using sorption media. Aim of study was to develop green technology capable of nutrient sorption. Successfully evaluated a sorption media mixture using sawdust, limestone, Florida peat, sand, and tire crumb to understand the potential of sorption process in green technology.
b) Performance based and passive on-site wastewater treatment system evaluation for nutrient removal. Developed an innovative and cost-effective on-site biological wastewater treatment, for remote areas not served by public sewers, using organic carbon such as sawdust and tire crump.
c) Use of iron nano particles and titanium oxide nano particles to remove nutrient from storm water and wastewater. In a short timeframe, successfully synthesized both types of nano particles in UCF laboratory, that are capable of removing nutrients present in water and wastewater.
