• Processing translation requests received from clients by analyzing the scope of work, identifying the requirements, assigning a team of linguists on the task, and following up on the linguists’ progress.

• Projects: • Implementation of Space Shift Keying (SSK) on a Xilinx platform: - Designed, with a teammate, a system which implements a new communication technique called Space Shift Keying on a Xilinx Zynq platform. - Was responsible for modifying an existing design provided by Analog Devices to support SSK transmission scheme and programming the hardware to transmit a certain message. - A conference paper was written and published about the work in Springer during the early stages of the project. - A research paper was written and published in IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics after the project was finalized. • Embedded Hardware Implementation of Channel Coding for Space Modulation Techniques: - Senior design project submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science in Computer Engineering at GJU. - Enhanced the bit-error-rate of a hardware system that uses Space Shift Keying (SSK) as a Space Modulation technique. - Was responsible for simulating the system using MATLAB and implementing the encoding at the transmitter side and the decoding at the receiver side on the hardware. • Publications: - Omar Hiari, Faris Shahin, Samer Alshaer, Raed Mesleh, “Hardware implementation of space shift keying on a Xilinx Zynq platform.” International Conference on Broadband Communications, Networks and Systems, (pp. 267-275) Springer, Cham, 2018. - Omar Hiari, Raed Mesleh, Samer Alshaer, Faris Shahin, “First Hardware Implementation of an SSK MIMO System with no RF-Chain at the Transmitter“, IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2020.

• Projects: • Robot Sumo - Designed, with two other teammates, a wheeled robot that detects other robots and tries to push them out of a ring. - The robot also identified the boundaries of the ring and kept itself from falling outside. - Was responsible of the hardware part of the design which included circuit design and microcontroller programming. - The robot won the first place in the Second Universities Robots Competition, Amman, Jordan. • Automatic Meter Reading and Reporting System - Senior design project submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering at PSUT. - Designed, with a teammate, a system which takes the absolute power usage reading from an electricity meter and sends it to a server for further processing. - Was responsible of the hardware part of the design which included circuit design and microcontroller programming. - A paper about the project was written and won the best paper award in the Second Jordanian Student Conference on Communication, Technology, and Management (JITB). • Publications: Faris Shahin, Lina Dajani, Belal Sababha, “Automatic Electricity Meter Reading and Reporting System,” Ubiquitous Computing and Communication Journal, vol. 9, no. 1, pp1463-1467, 2015.
