•Plans and develops the academic calendar for life support and EMT training program.
•Informs departments of the approved training activities
•Be readily available to provide, advice, and support to staff working in clinical areas as needed.
•Help in policy review periodically to keep the life support policy updated.
•With the support of the L.S training manager, the Life Support instructor will respond to changes in National Guidelines and implement change within SSH.
•Manage own workload, and participate in workload planning for the Life Support Department.
•Actively participate in managing the department’s in-house training programs to meet SSH requirements.
•Contribute to the development of Life Support Instructors.
•Participate in the provision of Life Support training and support to visitors coming to SSH to be trained on life support programs.
•Provide guidance to SSH staff on the level of training required and work with Life Support team to ensure these needs are met.
•Clean training manikins properly according to set policies
•Work with managers and clinicians to optimize the uptake of resuscitation training for all staff groups, in line with SSH policy and to comply with the National Guidelines.
•Develops, maintains, utilizes and submits records and reports to the training manager as required.
•Uses teaching method that complies with the recommendation of the American Heart Association (AHA).
•Support the Patient and Family education Department and other colleagues in the provision of Life Support Training for parents and careers.
•With the support of the Life Support team contributes to the provision of accredited resuscitation courses in SSH.
•Ensures that life support facilities are maintained and ready before use.
•Maintains systems and processes to support resuscitation training programs including: manikin storage, Cleaning and maintenance for house-wide programs.
•Uses judgment and subject knowledge, during Training events to advise/counsel/intervene on matters of poor practice, to ensure patient and staff safety.
•After Training events provide constructive feedback to those concerned, including individual counseling/debriefing where appropriate, alerting senior colleagues to a need for more formal debriefing, particularly following difficult or distressing events.
•Represents the department and SSH in a professional and responsible manner at all times.
•Takes responsibility for professional growth and keep up to date with relevant developments.
•Takes part in regular professional and performance review according to SSH policy.
•Adheres to relevant international and national guidelines in clinical practice and teaching.
•Performs other miscellaneous duties as required within the scope of expertise
for Strategic planning, staffing & implementing and evaluating patients care.
•Implementation of modern management practices, concerning personnel, IT, reporting systems and patient support systems.
•Solve problems in a calm systematic manner, resulting in an efficiently run department.
