A contract with a school in Oman fell through due to a newly passed government law affecting expatriates. Another contract also fell through with the UAE government due to coronavirus.
I spent this time studying for the GRE physics exam, self-development and tutoring math and physics as an independent teacher.
• Taught algebra and geometry to grade 8 and 9 in accordance with the Massachusetts state curriculum. Class sizes were between 25 and 30 students.
• Developed homework to reveal academic weaknesses to the students so they would know which area of the lesson to revise. I am still developing the homework structure to increase its efficacy.
• Used available class technology and opensource software in my classes.
Reason for leaving: General layoffs in all teaching departments.
• Worked on the Mu2e experiment that is based at Fermilab, IL, USA.
• Worked as part of the R&D team on the electron tracker as well as on the construction of early parts of the detector.
Reason for leaving: Graduated.
• Taught Physics to grades 9 and 10 in accordance with the IGCSE curriculum.
• Used physics lab whenever time permitted to teach concepts and let the students conduct supervised experiments.
Reasons for Leaving: Pursuing experimental physics at the University of Minnesota.
• Taught algebra and geometry to grade 10 in accordance with the SABIS curriculum. Taught and pre-calculus and calculus to grades 11 and 12 to prepare them for SAT. Prepared grade 10 for IGCSE math exam.
• Reviewed students’ objection requests to weekly homework problems.
Reason for leaving: I love mathematics but I wanted to teach in my chosen field.
Experimental particle physics. The Mu2e research is on charged lepton flavor violation. The experiment is based at Fermilab in Chicago, Illinois, USA https://mu2e.fnal.gov/ I was part of the team that did R&D on the construction of the electron tracker. I became one of mangers of the construction line.
I explored a wide range of physics specializations and found out that I have passion for more than one specialty in physics.
