Manage day to day operations on site. Develop and follow Drilling program for under balanced drilling utilising state of the art Managed Pressure Drilling equipment and techniques of both Triceratops and Antelope fields. Recent wells have included the use of Weather ford’s RCD & DDV ( downhole deployment valves) and Mud Cap drilling practices to drill into high pressure formations ( 3500psi BHP) with total loses. These managed pressure drilling techniques were used consequently in wireline logging runs, DST testing and completions.
Manage the mobilisation and demobilisation of a helicopter transportable rig. Coordinate with the many facets required to accommodate and supply the rig site with accommodation for 120 staff. On a daily basis manage the numerous service company specialists on site to provide support and expertise for the various drilling, testing and completion phases of these very high pressure wells. Daily manage the HSE requirements, permit to work system and liaise with the Simmons drilling operators who supply personnel for InterOil’s Rig #2.
Comply with the local PNG DPE requirements and make sure that the correct daily reporting procedure are adhered to.

Working within the Oil and CBM industry for a small privately owned company with divisions in Wire line logging and Directional Drilling services to the resource industry. Brought into the company to help build the companies systems and gain work within the Oil and Gas sector with a view to the company floating on the stock exchange either this year or early next year.
My remit was to initially observe the current operations and implement new procedures and strategies to achieve the company’s aim of diversifying from the CBM sector into the Oil and Gas sector. This involved sourcing the appropriate tools to enable the company to compete, introducing and building a comprehensive training scheme within the companies framework, the introduction of new software and engineering and planning techniques currently employed within the Oil and Gas industry.I have built good relationships with Santos, Pathfinder and InterOil (PNG) and have added new high dollar revenue into the core business through the introduction of concise planning and engineering for Oil and Gas projects. Further, I have recently managed to win an international contract for the company to be the preferred supplier of technology and manpower for InterOil (PNG), drilling on the world’s largest gas reserve fields in PNG.I have maintained the usual operational manager’s functions with respect to current company systems and monthly accounting and cost controls, as well as hiring new employees. I make frequent field based trips to support both the client and the company’s personnel.

Utilising current directional drilling technologies to drill a variety of well designs throughout the world.Jan 2005 I was seconded to China’s Changbei project and drilled on Rig # 3 using primarily motor assemblies with triple combo LWD and real time vibration and hydraulic analysis systems Recently drilled 7 multilateral 7500’+/- utilising 4 ¾” tools, both PDM motors and Sperry’s Rotary steerable 5200 system with gamma and inclination at the bit on the North slope in Alaska.
During 2007/9 I drilled a series of wells both on and offshore Balikpapan again utilising the Sperry suite of Rotary steerable systems as well as motor assemblies, simple pendulum assemblies and rotary AGS assemblies. Recently drilled a light architecture well for Total using a Slick bore assembly, which dramatically increased the overall drilling performance of this type of well.
I currently use on a daily basis Compass, Planit and Insite directional software to plan wells, analyse assemblies calculate torque and drag, hydraulics, whirl etc as well as other specialised hardware/software ( DrillSvr, PWD, DDS etc) to monitor and analyse down hole vibrations and hydraulics real time
