OT-STAFF NURSE - Operation Theater consisting of seven theaters handling all specialty surgery, handling mostly orthopedic, laparoscopic esp. bariatric cases, and neuro-spine cases.
o Assessing the physical & psychological needs of the patients.
o Receiving the posted patients from the ward to operating room.
o Pre-operative checkup and vital signs maintenance.
o Assisting the doctor for local & general anesthesia.
o Cleaning & safe handling of instruments.
o Preparation of Operation room.
o Maintaining and taking inventory of articles and equipments.
o Maintaining aseptic techniques.
o Assisting the procedures with doctors.
o Scrubbing & assisting the Surgeon for the successful procedures.
o Assisting doctors for intubation and Extubation.
o Knowledge on IV Cannulation and safe Blood Transfusion
o Check, administer and maintain safe custody of narcotic drugs according to hospital rules
1. Implements hospital and unit policies and procedures.
2. Assigns task accordingly to other members of the team.
3. Supervises staff during surgical procedures and other related OR procedures.
4. Checks daily OR schedules and informs Attending Physicians for any conflict of procedures.
5. Evaluates each member of the team.
6. Dialogue with each member the result of performance appraisal.
7. Performs peri-operative nursing care.
8. Provides patients’ safety, privacy and comfort.
9. Coordinates with the In-patient Supervisor any immediate concerns of the unit in the absence of the Head Nurse and Supervisor.
10. Checks availability of linens and supplies and monitors proper functioning of instruments, equipments, and facilities.
11. Monitors safety, cleanliness and orderliness inside the OR Complex.
12. Functions as a Circulating Nurse in situations of simultaneous surgical procedures.
13. Participates in giving orientations of new personnel and nursing affiliates.
14. Updates OR logbooks such as PHIC, DOH, and records of Surgical Census.
15. Submits regularly 24 Hour OR/DR procedures.
16. Endorses OR/DR procedures, instruments and significant activities.
17. Performs pre operative and post operative visits.
18. Attends meetings, seminars and trainings.
