GSM Operation and Maintenance
GSM One-Tel Project, AUSTRALIA
Job Description:
* Provide technical support to the O&M Engineers for Lucent Australia GSM
(One-Tel Project) especially the BTS/BCF/STF-2000 equipments.
* Site inspection of newly installed and integrated cellsites to ensure the quality of installations of contractors for the indoor
and outdoor BTS (Base Tranceiver Station) equipments, grounding system, rectifiers, Building- alarm system,
waterproofing, etc.
* Site acceptance(PAT-Preliminary Acceptance Test) and Final acceptance test of a newly integrated BTS
cellsites, including microwave links.
* Routine preventive and corrective maintenance of BSS equipment, monitoring of
recent and pending alarms on every Base stations and clearing of current alarms.
* Operation and maintenance of Microwave links (Lucent MDL200, IOLINK, Breezelink) which is used in the GSM network
including the panning of microwave antennas.
* Also responsible in all external alarm problems, which are integrated to the BTS/sites.
* Troubleshooting of main power supply unit, including the electrical, main breaker, DC Rectifiers,
Lighting system, Tower lights, Fire alarm system, A/C control panel, etc.
* Drivetesting of a newly integrated cellsite to ensure the performance of the BTS- Base Transceiver Stations, using Mobile
Test unit.
GSM Operation & Maintenance
Job Description: (BSS/MW/POWER)
* Responsible for the operation & maintenance of LUCENT GSM900/1800 BTS-2000; BCE & BCF-2000, STF200.
* Perform routine preventive maintenance, corrective action, drive testing and handover testing, to ensure the excellent
performance of the Base Station System.
* Conduct routine testing of RF Power, Receive Signal Level, Downlink of every RF units, using Spectrum Analyzer, timeslot
testing using Field Test Phone and MA-10 Radio Analyzer.
* Perform routine check-up and data base back-up on the BCE unit using the MMI software; routine testing of Abis link (2
Mbps); M-link and CCS7 signaling using the MA-10 Radio Analyzer.
* Performed additional hardware components on the BTS and BCE equipment as per Traffic requirements in the network.
* 24-Hour call out to respond OMC/NNCCs call in case of site trouble (alarms).
* Routine Preventive & corrective maintenance of the Microwave Links, such as (4E1s & 16E1s)P-Com, Harris & NERA
(NL185, 187, 248) PDH Microwave Radio Equipment, including waveguide faults, connectors, dehydrators and feedhorn
(ANDREWS).
* Replacement of microwave outdoor unit (ODU), alignment of microwave and BTS antenna.
* Perform preventive maintenance of single and dual Generator set (48KVA) KOOLER (John Deere) and DEUTZ Air cooled
generator set (FL-912), including repair & maintenance of ATS (Automatic Transfer Switch), generator dummy load,
battery & battery charger, fuel pump and engine control panel.

* Repair and maintenance of Main Power distribution panel board such as relays, Magnetic contactor; internal &
external lighting and its automatic controls, tower lights controller and fire alarm, and door alarm.
* Repair & maintenance of HVAC control panel for the Air Conditioning Unit (Liebert & Zamil).
* Repair & preventive maintenance of UPS (Lineage 2000) and 630 Amp. UNIGY back-up batteries for DC power supply of
BTS & Microwave Radio equipment
Responsible for the Technical evaluation, new products evaluation of Radio communication equipments and RF units, that will
be used in the RBS (Radio Base Stations), Reapeater sites and for the end user (subscribers) such as repeaters, controllers,
fixed and mobile radio units, transceivers, antennas, duplexers, combiners, multicouplers, and other communication
equipments in accordance with EIA / TIA standards & MPT-1327 Protocol.
* Responsible for the repair, maintenance and calibration of defective units from the Repeater sites / RBS (Radio Base Station
units), BSC (Base Station Controllers), from QA / QC section and from the subscriber’s equipments such as radio base
equipments, Radio controllers, versaphone, fixed wireless telephone, trunking radios, two way radio transceivers
(SELECTONE Controller, KYODO, ALINCO, SIEKI, GE, etc.), Power supplies and other subscriber’s equipment.
* Responds to any trouble in the Radio Base Station System.
* Supervising the communication radio technicians in component level trouble shooting, repair and calibration of radio equipment
units, using new and state of the art calibration and measuring instruments, and proper use of tools & equipments to ensure
the safety of the instruments.
Responsible for the installation, repair, calibration and maintenance of Radio Base Station such as HF (SSB), VHF, UHF
and Trunking radio system, such as Motorola, ICOM, KEENWOOD, YAESU, ALINCO & other conventional two way radio
system, Repeaters and Linear RF amplifiers such as Mirage, Daiwa, Icom, etc.
* Repair/Installations of other electronic devices such as Intercom, Telephone, UPS / Power Supplies, etc.
* Experienced in the Instrumentation & Calibration measuring instruments.
* Supervised the erection of poles / guyed poles, that will be use for point to point communications, including antenna
tuning, propagation testing and commissioning of the system.
