Investment Banking / Corporate Finance and financing of large capital projects:

Reporting to DCEO, led the Global Corporate Finance Team comprising Regional Heads and other senior transactors, including dotted line reporting from RMs and other corporate bankers in different Arab Bank geographies. Focused on deal origination, financial advisory, due-diligence, structuring and execution of large capital and infrastructure projects and corporates in the MENA Region, including asset finance, secondary market trades of corporate loans and ECM and DCM transactions. Portfolio totaling about $3 billion included asset and project financing of various asset classes, including transactions comprising economic, support and social infrastructures (PPP transactions). Worked on landmark power, water, and industrial transactions in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, UAE, Jordan, Qatar, Oman and Egypt.

Spearheaded advisory and lead arranger mandates on large, high profile energy and infrastructure transactions in the KSA. Worked on project finance, corporate finance (equity valuation and IPO/underwriting) and structured finance advisory. Responsibilities comprised deal origination, advisory, due-diligence and execution. Advised investment consortia from KSA, Malaysia, US, Japan and GCC on several infrastructure finance transactions, including lead transactor and financial adviser roles on the landmark Shuaibah IWPP transaction. Successfully originated and completed multi-billion dollar project finance and corporate finance deals. Closed transactions on financial restructuring, valuation and public and private equity placement in the energy, power, water, petrochemical, oil refinery, cement, transportation sectors, and various industrial as well as infrastructure projects. Lead Transactor on several joint venture infrastructure and structured finance transactions for mid-size companies. Closely worked with Bank’s Board on large ticket financing mandates.

Initiated energy sector structured finance effort for the Group. Advised Investment Bank’s Senior Management on asset-based advisory business and investment opportunities in energy, power and other infrastructure assets. Closed various tax credit transactions with Firm’s equity participation.

Originated and completed cross-border transactions across diverse industries for structured finance, corporate finance and high-yield portfolio management groups. In 1999 awarded Citibank’s Global Relationship’s “Global Customer Solution Award”.

Originated, structured and closed many cross-border financing transactions for global power and energy utilities in the European Union countries on power generation, transmission and distribution assets under Citibank's Asset Finance Group. Originated asset finance transactions for energy and power sectors in the Australian and Japanese markets.

Worked with client’s senior management on senior secured lending against asset based collateral in aviation, steel, interactive entertainment, chemicals and retail sectors. Analyzed companies and conducted detailed due diligence to assess credit-worthiness. Worked with international law firms to finalize credit agreements, term sheets, and pertinent financing and security documents. Pitched for prospective client’s business.

Worked with Citigroup’s Private Equity Group on several LBO transactions. Also, managed with team a $500 million portfolio of corporate loans and bonds of new issue offerings in the high yield market, including previously underwritten issues traded in the secondary par and distressed markets.

Managed cross-functional process design & execution teams on FMCG brands for P&G’s multi-sector capital projects. Successfully completed engineering and packaging process design on brand initiatives for tissue paper, diapers, detergents, soaps and shampoos. Led environmental and safety engineering initiatives at P&G’s paper sector facilities throughout the US and completed several feasibility and cost saving studies for manufacturing and packaging plants.

Project engineering on large capital projects, including support for on-going plant maintenance and operations. Completed several projects on plant expansion, revamping, de-bottlenecking and risk reduction. Supervised construction teams and contractor work force during construction and project execution phases. Developed detailed engineering and fabrication design for capital projects, and coordinated the development of project cost estimates and DCF models for project’s feasibility and financing phase, including project completion schedule and EPC contracts.

Consulting and design project in computer-aided engineering design (CAD) as sub-contractor to IBM Federal Systems Divisions. Worked on several CAD based design initiatives for IBM.
