Designed and implemented systems for secure batch-oriented filing of state tax returns and payments, which also is used by intermediary tax agents. Developed numerous EDI interfaces, based on EDIFACT and ANSI X12 standards. Re-wrote software
acquired from 3rd parties. Designed replication systems to support company disaster recovery ‘hot site’. Responsible for all systems administration, database administration, networks, and email servers. Led the migration of multiple applications from SQL 2000 to SQL 2008.
Supported a base of multiple client companies in the north Houston and Montgomery county areas in the state of Texas. Converted several small companies from stand-alone PC environments to LAN. Advised on systems industry issues and trends as well as instituted value-added upgrades and provided ongoing systems support.
Managed team of eight system programmers and specialized developers. Created the mainframe software to gather sales information daily from more than 200 Point of Sale cash registers, which was the first implementation of its kind in the convenience store industry. Converted company’s corporate headquarters from an IBM mainframe-only environment to a mainframe-and-PC-LAN integrated system. Led the upgrade of all mainframe programs for an IBM DOS to MVS conversion. Developed a retail competitor gasoline price tracking and feedback system.
Maintained IBM mainframe operating systems and VTAM network. Upgraded the company from IBM DOS/VSE to DOS-under-VM .
