Digital Transformation, Cloud & Data Architect at Accenture - United Kingdom
  • United Kingdom - London
  • My current job since September 2019

At this Fortune Global 500 professional services company specializing in IT services and consulting, with a client base that includes 91 of the Fortune Global 100 and more than three-quarters of the Fortune Global 500, I worked as a digital transformation, cloud and data architect delivering complex solutions across several sectors including Financial Services, Health& Public Services, Products, and Communications, Media & Technology. The projects I worked on include:

Digital transformation program at the Middle East’s largest telecoms and digital services provider: The program aimed at creating a responsive business model through a unified digital ecosystem, leveraging advanced technologies and a microservices-based architecture. It was segmented into five key streams: Lead to Quote, Order to Cash, Concept to Market, Ticket to Resolve, and Digital Experience. In my role as an Integration Architect, I integrated Accenture’s Application Architecture with TM Forum’s Application
Framework (TAM) Suite to establish the client’s Application Architecture template. I documented the client’s existing Integration Architecture from end-to-end and spearheaded the design of ESB, microservices, and Kafka architectures to achieve system decoupling. As a Data Architect, I crafted the Enterprise’s Common Data Model, defining entities, attributes, and relationships across the enterprise. This model, enriched by the client’s domain-specific model and based on TMF’s Information Framework (SID), serves as a universal language for defining reports, dashboards, integration points, and more. It is a relational data repository that consolidates data from various systems within the enterprise and exposes the data through standard APIs based on TM Forum’s Open API specifications.

Modernization of Payments System at a UK Central Government Department: As a Solution Architect, I was instrumental in the modernization of a client’s national critical infrastructure payment system, which annually handles £177 billion through 730 million transactions for 22 million citizens across 11 benefit types. Transitioning from a monolithic on-premises solution to a cloud-native, microservice-based, loosely coupled architecture, I ensured compliance with the client’s modern reference architecture and industry changes. In collaboration with the client’s Senior Leadership Team, I developed a five-milestone strategic plan, providing clear direction after two years of project ambiguity. Working with architects, developers, QA engineers, and DevOps, we created an architectural blueprint encompassing functional and non-functional requirements, components, data, security, DevOps, infrastructure, and network architectures.

Data Lake at a Multi-National Automobile Manufacturer: Designed and implemented a proof-of-concept data lake for the client to store their data which included connected cars, marketing, sales, and plant sensors data to be consumed by BI and Analytical tools. The data lake was built on AWS serverless technologies including S3, Glue and Athena, with the client access it through Tableau from On-Prem

Senior Software Architect at Eckoh UK
  • United Kingdom - London
  • April 2012 to December 2016

My responsibilities included:

Translating the company’s business goals into technical solutions by making design decisions, technology choices and providing leadership and coaching for developers.

Identifying inadequacies in development practices and establishing a modularized approach to software development along with relevant QA and documentation standards for the shared modules

Leading small teams of developers to deliver projects through agile methods which include test driven development, weekly sprints, and scrums.

Performing key R&D on technologies that help deliver challenging requirements, like the use of in-memory NoSQL data storage to hold collected card data in memory instead of persisting it to disk to minimize the risk of compromising customer card data.

Performing code reviews (secure and best practices) for applications that handle credit card payments to PCI-DSS standards. As part of this made sure that OWASP’s top 10 security vulnerabilities (including SQL injection, cross site scripting and cross site request forgery) were properly mitigated within the applications.

My achievements included:

Created a solution of defining IVR applications using a DSL that put together solid, well tested, modular components into a working application. This allowed robust, stable IVR applications to be developed quickly and easily, saving time and costs for the company.

Designed and led delivery of a product to handle card payments through DTMF that helped several multi-million businesses achieve PCI compliance.

Introduced modularised and API based approach to development which improved code-reuse and cut project delivery timescales and costs.

Designed and led the delivery of call routing solution for the biggest local government body responsible for transport in London which included a web-based IDE to develop IVRs. This reduced their costs for handling calls by improving the efficiency of handling call routing.

Managed requirements gathering, estimation and architecture design of key enterprise projects that include a DTMF suppression technology that allowed card data to be collected through calls to call centres while keeping the call centres out of PCI scope and call routing solution for a large hotels chain.
