I am accountable of creating and managing the Emiratisation Strategy for Barclays and turning it into a positive experience by providing high level support to the business in the country. I also work with my colleagues within HR to create and develop strategies and development activities to pro-actively support the development and retention of UAE nationals. This includes the identification of different programmes such as Junior Leadership Development, Succession Plans, Mentoring & Coaching as well as Retention Strategy to retain the talent within the organisation.
Other responsibilities include:
-Create a Learning & Development Strategy to identify and develop learning plans for UAE nationals
-Create a national retention strategy, analyzing themes and working with colleagues in HR, Business Heads and other stakeholders to address the issues
-Creation of a national talent pipeline to run through the business at all levels
-Career Coach to national talent, helping to identify opportunities for career development
-Create a valuable link between recruitment, talent and Emiratisation
-Oversee the management of UAE graduates scheme
I was responsible of overseeing, managing and creating the Nationalisation Strategy for HSBC businesses in GCC and managing the Nationalisation relationship with the top management in the bank such as the country CEO’s, Regional Heads and UAE Business Heads. I was also responsible for all talent management and high level resourcing needs for their client area across the GCC and to work with colleagues in HR and businesses to create and develop strategies and development activities to pro-actively support the development of national talents.
I managed a team of 7 people in UAE and Qatar who supported the implementation and execution of the Nationalisation plans, where each team member was supporting a specific business line to ensure Nationalisation is turned into a positive experience and have a bigger impact across the business. The team was also responsible of the direct coaching, development and the direct support to country nationals.
Other responsibilities of the role included:
-Manage the Nationalisation team who delivered the strategy on ground,
-Participate in the top management and stakeholders strategic and business meetings to present the Nationalisation paper
-Ensure Nationalisation becomes part of doing business in GCC and is plugged in each business head’s agenda
Drive nationals development
-Promote awareness and internal support for Nationalisation to improve targets
-Work with HR managers and business heads to identify and develop learning plans for GCC national talents
-Build a GCC national retention strategy, analyse themes and work with colleagues in HR, line managers and other stakeholders to address and solve the issues
-Creation of a GCC national talent pipeline to run through the business at all levels
-Drive performance and set stretching goals
-Lead government and external stakeholders relations in coordination with the bank’s strategy
Provide leadership and guidance to GCC nationals
-Drive resourcing initiatives to create development opportunities, new vacancies and fast track programmes to develop internal talent and attract talented GCC nationals
-Create the Corporate Sustainability (CS) strategy for the region and cascade the strategy across the region to ensure commitment and implementation
-Evaluate philanthropic proposals from the region and providing feedback and guidance
-Lead HSBC in the community committee meetings to discuss proposals and take decisions
-Conduct regional conference calls with the CS managers in the region to share best practices
-Develop a CS website to create awareness among HSBC's staff and customers
-Create CS reports and brochures to share with HSBC customers
-Review sponsorship requests and prove holding acknowledge reply
-Generate quarterly reports for all MENA CS activities
-Manage and operating with agreed Investment plan budgets and meeting targets
