• Responsible for electrical design, construction and commissioning for new processing plant and associated non processing infrastructure.
• Attending and signing off on Factory Acceptance Testing of the new plant equipment.
• Attending and participating in Electrical, Mechanical and Control Hazard & Operational Study (HAZOP) for the new processing plant.
• Signing off and performing electrical design reviews of development and final design documents both from construction, commissioning and operation perspective.
• Ensuring that the new processing plant’s design and specifications strictly follow Australian and Rio Tinto Standards.
• Ensuring for correct control operation of the new plant and also seamless integration of the new processing plant to the existing Nammuldi wet plant.
• Ensuring for the correct operation of the SCADA Wonderware system for the new processing plant.
• Leading project design and construction meetings and keep the relevant stakeholders informed.
• Reviewing and preparation of Inspection Test Plans and commissioning reports of new processing plant.
• Training and mentoring less experienced staff.
• SME (Electrical & Control) for Brockman 4 (45Mtpa), Nammuldi (42Mtpa) and
Brockman 2 (9Mtpa) Mine sites.
• Accountable for realizing plant production targets and also responsible for the development, coordination and execution of CAPEX and OPEX projects relating to plant and infrastructure expansion.
• Establishing scope of works and its associated work schedule and ensure that the works are completed on time and within allocated budget.
• Performing reviews of electrical as built and project handover documents.
• Managing contractors and working with cross functional team to achieve site KPIs.
• Performing site acceptance of equipment as per the project scope of works and relevant Australian and RioTinto standards.
• Performing Inspection and test plans for electrical systems.
• Implementing process control improvements.
• Maintaining bridging register as per national and site regulations.
• Supervising and mentoring graduate and young engineers.
• Trouble shooting, identifying and implementing plant improvement opportunities involving electrical systems, Variable speed drive systems, Electric Motors, HV & LV switch gear, SCADA systems (Citect & Wonderware), Softstarters, Numerous Instruments such as microwaves, level sensors, flow meters, lasers and PLC control systems such as Cascade Control System for screenhouse, Anti Collision System for balanced machines, Mass Control System for TLO, NETA monitoring for ABB ACS drives, Auto Lubrication System for Secondary Crushers, Commissioning of Diesel Power Plant, Commissioning of Laser scanners and many more.
• Hands on testing and commissioning of protection relays such as secondary injection testing in conjunction with statutory electrical requirements, regulation and national standards.
• Designing & developing HV/LV system design and protection co-ordination.
• Sizing and specifying transformers, switch gear, fuses, protection relays, UPS, Citect and Wonderware SCADA systems, Advantsys Island, Schneider Modicon and Quantum PLCs, Vega instrument meters, M300 Flow transmitters, Sick Laser Scanners, ABB MNSiS & Nilsen Motor Control Centers, distribution board & overhead and underground power cables in accordance with Australian Standards and RioTinto Standards.
• Developing project plans, project scope and schedules to the required level of detail, including all dependencies and drivers. HV/LV system design of large scale PV projects up to 10MW.
• Estimating costs for the project including defining a cost baseline.
• Establishing the quality objectives for the project and their implementation.
• Establishing a communication plan to ensure all stakeholders are kept informed and aware of the project’s progress throughout its life.
• Establishing procurement plan for handling project procurement.
• Performing risk analysis of the project.
• Writing Safe Work Method Statements / Job Safety Analysis for the given project.
• Writing independent/owner engineering reviews and reports.
• Managing project delivery and providing due diligence for investors.
• Preparation of submissions to regulatory authorities.
• Manage performance testing of installations and the operation and maintenance of completed facilities.
• Design and drafting of PV systems (grid connected, stand alone and hybrid) with consideration of generation and protection requirements.
• Sizing and specifying transformers, switch gear, SCADA systems, distribution board and cables in accordance with Australian Standards.
• Liaising with the projects team, internal & external clients, customers and consultants.
• Designing cost-effective DC/LV/HV electrical systems which minimize losses in accordance with International & Australian Standards.
• Verification of earthing grid design and lightning protection systems in accordance with Australian Standards.
• Managing day to day High Voltage and Low Voltage activities.

• Liaising with other departments of the company which include Port Desalination Plant and Concentrator Plant for safe & reliable operation of their network which includes distribution load, transformers, switch gear and protection relays.
• Involved in the development of asset management strategy for the power plant. This work is undertaken during the plant’s construction phase to ensure seamless transition from commissioning to full commercial operation.
• Lecturing at both Masters Level and Bachelor Level teaching Power Electronics and Power Machines respectively.
• Managing Smart Grid team of 7 personnel. The team was responsible for the research, planning and development of Virtual Power Plants.
• Worked closely with Western Power (Power Utility) for the development of Virtual Power Plant Project from an industry perspective.
• Author of numerous publications in relation to Smart Grid and Virtual Power Plants.
• Performed Engineering design, planning, quantity analysis, cost & contract management of several projects for BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, BMA Coal, Western Australia Government, Westralia Airport Corporation ranging from 10 million AUD to 30 million AUD.

• Appointed Assistant Project Manager for Perth Airport Project which involved redesigning and updating of their security system and its associated low voltage electrical network. (Western Australia Project worth 16 million AUD).
• Performed Sales and Tender breakdown of many projects.

• Responsible for production of full engineering documentation including cabling schedules, interconnection layouts, labelling schedules, block layouts and general arrangements ready for construction purposes.
