UK Finance lead for an international technology solution provider.

•Helping the Head of Finance for a £200m business during the busy year end period with the preparation of statutory account from trial balance, for over a dozen companies, moving from IFRS to FRS102.

•Finance lead for a social enterprise in need of a finance transformation, reporting into the CEO.
•Undertaking a thorough review of the finance processes, data quality and outputs to make recommendations for improvements and then lead in the implementation.

− Finance Manager for the Smart Motorways Programme (SMP), responsible for a number of projects ranging from a £2m per annum maintenance contract to a £850m motorway upgrade as part of a Joint Venture (JV).
Key responsibilities
− Business partnering with the operations and commercial directors for the SMP business and being involved in decision making process for the portfolio.
− Own the delivery of the month-end reporting, cash flow, budget and quarterly forecasts for the SMP business, ensuring the group accounting policies are being adhered to.
− Monthly financial and commercial review of all the projects, including a thorough review of the balance sheets.
− Consolidation of monthly results and helping with the external audit.
− Multi-site financial support for the finance and commercial teams.
Key achievements/Projects
− Set up complex reporting tools, based on the requirement of the business, that’s easy to maintain and provides sufficient detail for the end user. These include models using spreadsheet, database and Power BI, where required.
− Overhaul the internal accounting processes for a number of projects to ensure efficiency and accuracy of reporting.
− Streamlined the application process for one of our bigger projects to ensure consistency, completion and efficiency in the process. This led to better controls and understanding of the project’s cost base and therefore savings in the long run.
− Ensuring maximum recovery on the services being provided to the JV by working closely with the commercial teams and gaining an in depth understanding of the contract.
Outline
•Acting Finance Business Partner for the Highways Maintenance business, supporting the Operations and Commercial directors in understanding and reporting the financial results and setting quarterly targets.
Key responsibilities and achievements
•Production, consolidation and reporting of Highways Maintenance business' management accounts and quarterly budgets / forecasts (circa £250m p.a)
•Completion, negotiation and agreement of the annual budget, monthly invoicing, and quarterly joint review board meetings and annual audit for the RBK Passenger Transport Service contract. Also producing management accounts and other quarterly reports.
•Streamlined the cash flow process leading to a more productive review.
•Automated the month-end process, cutting the time required by half and minimising probability of human errors.
Outline
− Finance lead and a core team member for a high profile, 250 plus headcount program, upgrading Qatar’s infrastructure in preparation for the football world cup. Atkins were the designers and site supervisors for this multi-billion-pound program.
Key responsibilities and achievements
− Monthly financial and commercial reviews for over 30 projects, including an in-depth cash forecast.
− Actively contributing to the preparation and presentation of the monthly ‘Project Board’, which included regional directors.
− Resource management and site recruitment for the program in Qatar and India (Shared Services Facility), by working closely with the design managers to understand their resource requirements.
− Improved management confidence in the performance of the program by overhauling the monthly reporting and developing detailed, user friendly, forecasts and outturn scenarios.
− Introduced strict financial governance guidelines to control program wide spend.

•Joined Atkins in late 2008 on the Finance Graduate scheme. After working two years in the UK, I completed placements in Dubai, Bahrain and Qatar.
•Business Partnering with F&G Qatar which also included reporting internally and externally on its performance, working closely with the business heads in preparing the budget and forecasts and helping with the External Audit
