Key Responsibilities
1. Prepared the detailed plans for the planning packages assigned by the main contractor using
Primavera P6.
2. Implemented the pull based planning technique on monthly basis using Kanban board as part of
contractual requirement. It was an implementation of agile planning technique.
3. Understood the Drawings and Specifications to get the work done on ground as per contractual
documents.
4. Acted as a focal point for all the communications with the client site team on behalf of my company.
5. Prepared various reports like Daily Site Report, Weekly Progress Report, Monthly Safety Reports
etc.
6. Reviewed plant and machinery reports and did inspections periodically.
Site Activities:
1. To ensure that site safety standards are as per Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)
2. Act as a QA/QC engineer for some projects which had special requirements from client.
3. Making sure that Construction Quality Control Plan (CQCP) is properly followed and issue Site Observations or NCRs wherever found violation to the specifications or approved drawings.
4. Participate in weekly progress meetings to keep a track of all critical activities for the project.
5. Assist in the implementation of Project Execution Plan
Coordination Activities:
1. Coordinate for all the submitals from site, making sure they are commented by the respective engineers and sent back to contractor within the contractual time period.
2. Prepare the authority process charts and keep a track of all the approvals from concept stage to building completion. Plan for each submission and coordinate with AOR and Technical teams to get the submission package ready by the time.
3. Help the Resident Engineers by taking up the RFIs from site, review them in coordination with the technical staff from head office and close them out within the stipulated time period.
4. Keep a track of all the RFIs which trigger authority approvals or impact cost or time for construction.
Planning Experience:
1. Support the business development team by preparing schedules for new project proposals.
2. Act as a planning and control engineer for the resources at head office. Prepare WBS and assign time and resources for each activity in accordance with the total man hours allocated for the project.
Technology Initiatives:
1. Developed framework for the Site-Head office coordination and outlined how it could be automated.
2. Developed framework for a web as well as mobile based application for tracking and updating authority related co-ordinations.
Working as a civil engineer in Archcorp, I got a chance to work as an estimator. Learned the onscreen quantity take off software, CostX.
As an estimator I worked on four projects having mixed residential and retail use.
Worked on an infrastructure project having paved asphalt road of 75 kms length, including a flyover, a bridge, various culverts, retaining walls and side drains.
My daily activities included
1. Planning day to day activities in accordance with the master plan.
2. Controlling the execution according to the drawings, specifications and schedule.
3. To get the work done approved from consultants for payments.
4. Provision of optimum resources so that the work goes as planned. (Resources being Manpower, Machinery and/or Materials.)
5. Ensure that safety standards are properly followed
During my internship I got chance to work on the embankment construction of small dams within the premises of airport. I was given a task of analyzing the effects of proposed dams on the life of the people and other living creatures. Got hands on experience on the project management techniques from client point of view. Also worked with the site engineer on the passenger terminal building.
I worked on a US funded project (Kanju-Sumbat Road Project) of an asphalt road construction having 25km length and 7.3m width completed by asphalt plant along with two bridges and various structures in Swat district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. There I got hands on experience on the Transportation Engineering along with guidance on FIDIC.
During my Civil Engineering I studied following subjects as part of my course: Project Scheduling, Construction Project Management, Transportation Engineering, Contract Management, Surveying, Public Health Engineering (Water Supply and Sanitary Engineering), Fluid Mechanics, Soil Mechanics, Structural Analysis, Plain & Reinforced Concrete, Quantity Surveying and Cost Estimation, Hydrology & Water Management, Geo-Informatics, Computer Aided Civil Engineering Design and Graphics, Engineering Economics, Architecture and Town Planning, Hydraulics Engineering, Irrigation Engineering.
