Senior Engineer in the Ministry of the Environment and Sustainable Development, appointed to the Directorate of Industrial pollution prevention belonging to the General Directorate of Environment and Quality of life. Head of service of Air Quality and Atmospheric pollution effects monitoring in the sub-directorate of air quality and clean energies. My job involves:
- Overseeing industrial pollution prevention and control programs,
- Participating to the elaboration of regulation related to environment prevention and protection (Quality of air protection and its technical applications, risk prevention of pollution related to industrials sites),
- Member of national coordination projects staff (Project of Enabling activities to review and update the National Implementation Plan for the Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic pollutants (POPs), Project of Capacity building for national implementation of the Strategic Approach for International Chemical Management (SAICM) and supporting the development of national capacities for the implementation of the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (SGH), Project to Support local environmental governance of industrial activity in the region of Gabes in Tunisia),
- Taking part to national technical committees (Environmental impact assessment of industrial projects, cement plant implementation authorization, pesticides for agriculture uses approval, chemical products importation approval),
- Member of several steering committees projects (Project to strengthen institutional infrastructure on standard and regulations to support business and industry in the middle East and North Africa, Project to support Nationally Appropriate Mitigation Actions for the Tunisian Solar Plan, Project to the implementation of conservation plan for air quality in Tunis, Project to the promotion of sustainable consumption and production modes in Tunisia).
- Participating to national and international brainstorming workshops related to environment protection and pollution control.
Technical-sales Engineer in Tunisia Engineering Services Company. In charge of supplying water control pollution facilities, since the preparation of technical and financial offers, the negotiation of contract performance stages to commissioning tests and supervising provisional acceptance. Equipments supplied are Coalescence oil/water separator, grease tank, prefabricated waste water treatment plants for small collectivities, storm overflow and flow regulators, submersible pump units, gate valves and non return valves PEHD/INOX, floating boom and oil skimmer to control marine pollution, flocculation, coagulation and sequestering agents, membranes for brackish water desalination).
My duties comprised:
- Pursue tenders and consultations publication,
- Prepare replies to tenders with constituting administrative documents and preparing technical and financial offer for tender proposal,
- Attend bid opening committee meetings,
- Track required elements for the entry into force of the contracts,
- Track the implementation of the contracts until their completion,
- Monitoring compliance with contractual terms,
- Attend and supervise equipment testing and facilities commissioning,
- Attend and supervise provisional and final acceptance and reports signature.
Responsible for the supervision of anaerobic digestion sludge treatment and biogas production unit at the waste water treatment plant of Choutrana (The largest waste water treatment plant in Tunisia).
My mission consisted of:
- Monitoring and controlling the quantity of thickened sludge to the inlet of the digester and the amount of digested sludge.
- Monitoring, control and interpretation of physicochemical analyzes of the sludge at different points of the circuit (T°, pH, chlorides, conductivity, BOD, COD, dry residue, organic matter, volatile fatty acids).
- Measurement and daily monitoring of the quality of biogas generated at the digesters output, at the input and output of the biogas scrubber and at the entrance of the flares gas (Percentage of CH4, CO2, O2, H2S).
- Manager and the first responsible of the waste water treatment plant of choutrana during periodic rolling on Saturday and Sunday.
- Conduct training to operators appointed at the anaerobic digestion sludge treatment unit.
