Working as Senior Telecom Engineer for installation and maintenance of a wide range of Telecom Systems and equipment for the Company, such as Fibre Optic Systems & networks, CCTV, microwave systems, VHF/UHF radios systems, Audio/Visual systems, Entertainment systems, structured cabling, power supplies and relocation of sensitive telecommunications equipment, overseeing technical performance of 5 technicians. Responsible for multiple telecommunication sub-contractors, design review/approval of all telecommunications systems associated with the project, ensuring system design, equipment implementation and commissioning meet project and Company technical, HSE and regulatory requirements/standards.
• Preparing and supervising the planned routine telecom maintenance activities.
• Performing site visits for documentation and cost estimating of existing telecom systems and facilities conditions being responsible for new or upgrade projects, both for onshore and offshore projects.
• Supervising implementation of system preventive maintenance procedure and ensuring update of as-built drawings in company documentation system. Coordinating with network, application teams & vendors for new projects implementation.
• Performing telecommunications analysis and develop appropriate system concepts and layouts.

Interfacing to head office, onshore and offshore field teams to ensure plans are aligned and that priorities are communicated.

• Transmission equipment installed: Alcatel Submarine Line Terminating Equipment OALW64 SLTE, multi-channel system using wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) technique and synchronous digital hierarchy (SDH) multiplexing technology.
• Performed the acceptance test and upgradeability test to ensure the submarine cable can handle capacity up to 80 wave-lengths.
• Prepared progress reports in each step of the project for assessment by project directors in UK.
• Performed commissioning test of Alcatel 1640 SDH 80 channels terrestrial transmission ring for signal parameters such as amplitude, frequency, modulation and spacing between selected wave-lengths for each channel.BER testing over-night, using ANT20 network tester.
• Mastered Network Management System (NMS) such as Alcatel 1353 SH for SDH network monitoring and Alcatel 1354SN for repeater interrogation and detecting fiber optic cable cuts & amplifiers performance.
• Managed the network troubleshooting, provided new circuit activation by preparing fiber optic cross-connect cables between terrestrial and submarine ODF’S (optical distribution frame), attenuate signal if needed and measure continuity till customer termination patch panel.
• Performed different operations activities such as: PFE (power feed equipment) balancing between landing stations, submarine / terrestrial cable cuts trouble shooting using COTDR / OTDR, implemented communication protocols between repair ship & L.S.
• Managed landing station and POP (point of presence) technical and contractual issues, preventive maintenance, etc.

• Performed factory environmental stress screening test that studies the effect of vibration and power down on submarine EDFA (repeater) to eliminate ASE (amplified spontaneous emission) measurements and Acoustics screen testing which is checking for any loose screws or parts inside the repeater under test to enhance reliability of 1480 nm & 980 nm repeaters.
• Maintained telecom systems integrity monitoring status and performance of multiple networks.
• Supervised the installation of the cable landing terminal and the satellite restoration earth station.
• Managed installation contractors throughout the building process.
• Participated in submarine cable commission testing, post repair testing and cable ship repair procedures.
