Reservoir Engineer at AFPC
  • Syria - Damascus
  • My current job since September 2003

A Senior Reservoir Engineer with 11 years of EP experience. I am working with Al Furat Petroleum Company (JV, Shell and Syrian government). Hands on experience in well & reservoir management, Field Development Planning, Reservoir Simulation and Hydrocarbon Reserves Estimation & Evaluation and Reporting. Experienced in Sandstone and Carbonate reservoirs, in a combination of mechanisms, water flooding, low-salinity flooding and Gas Cap reservoirs. I have been exposed to operational reservoir engineering and integrated reservoir studies environments. I am the RE responsible for preparing AFPC Annual Review of Petroleum Resources (ARPR). Well skilled user of RE software applications (OFM, PVTsim, IPM-MBAL/PROSPER, WePS, PanSystem, MoRes Simulator and ECLIPSE Simulation suite). I have strong analytical skills and developed good interpersonal skills working in multidisciplinary and multi-cultural teams. Through years of close co-operation with international Shell Petroleum Engineers, I have acquired technical practices of international EP industry standards.

Operation Reservoir Engineer at Al Furat Petroleum Company, Technical Petroleum Engineering
  • January 2005 to January 2010

Operation Reservoir Engineer
2005-2010 // 2011-2014
Reservoir Engineer at Al Furat Petroleum Company, Technical Petroleum Engineering department - Abu Hardan,
Bargouth, Ratka, and Hammar North fields.

• Operational Reservoir Engineer, four fields, 60 wells
o Abu Hardan (ABH), STOIIP 185 MMstb, SGIIP/FGIIP 255 Bscf, 40 wells
• ABHW block, saturated Oil, thin oil rim.
• ABHE block, under saturated reservoir, operated with a water injection.
o Barghouth, STOIIP 118 MMstb, SGIIP/FGIIP 20 Bscf, 12 wells
• (BRG) block, saturated Oil, thin oil rim.
• (BRS), under saturated reservoir
o Ratkka, under saturated Oil reservoir (STOIIP 24 MMstb, SGIIP/FGIIP 11Bscf, 4 wells)
o Hammar North saturated Oil reservoir (STOIIP 13 MMstb, SGIIP/FGIIP 8 Bscf, 4 wells)

My responsibilities: • Well & Reservoir management
• Conducting analytical reservoir analyses to optimally develop fields.
• Identifying a portfolio of risked subsurface opportunities and maturation of those for further reservoir development
• Short and long term production forecasting, reserves assessment and reporting (annual reserves reporting and documentation)

2

• Field Development Optimization (optimization of number of wells and perforation intervals to meet gas contract
requirements)
• Well test analysis and design
• Integrated Production Modelling (generation and update of integrated production models for production forecasting and production optimization using PETEX software and MoRes/HFPT)
• Reservoir Simulation including History matching (generation and update of reservoir simulation models) (ABH)
• Water flooding management, surveillance, analysis and evaluation
• PVT fluid characterization of a black oil using PVTsim (quality check for three samples and choose the more
representative sample if this possible)
• As a field focal point in BRG/BRS Field and my responsibilities include leading the field team to integrate all
subsurface data to identify, mature and evaluate economically the well activities, evaluate water injection
performance, estimate reserves and update the field development plan.

• Material Balance Study of a 80 Bcf (in place volume) gas condensate field. The study comprised the analysis of ~20
years of production, injection and pressure history. A significant upside, 5 Bcf of recoverable volumes, was identified and recommendations were given to mature those volumes.
• Production optimisation. Based on production performance data and well test analysis, I was a key member of a team
who proposed a well priority production scheme, which increased the field condensate production by 2.5%
• Selecting and maturing five drilling opportunities to well proposal by simulation studies and analytical work
• Preparation of a water disposal study for producing wells for BRS102, 103.
• Contributing to Regional Re-Development containing 4 fields.
• Field development plan update of a gas field still in development ABH.
• Define a set of opportunities to maximize overall BRG/BRS Fields recovery factor as a result of BRS106 (Complete
Story)
• Maximize oil recovery by changing flood patterns in water flooded field ABH East
• Well & reservoir production monitoring and surveillance activities including post-job evaluation of e.g. TDT, PLT,
Transient well test etc. A successful well optimization activities resulting in oil production gains of 1500 bbls/d
• Reserves reporting, SEC guidelines

cleaning, preservation, and processing; to supply information for: • Porosity, permeability, and relative permeability determination
• Capillary pressure
• Formation damage
• Petrology
• Performed volumetric STOIIP calculation
I have been responsible for all core samples of SPC and it's JV. Core data QC, making analysis and writing reports.
