CEO at Alkhorayef Water & Power Tech., Riyadh
  • Saudi Arabia - Riyadh
  • November 2011 to April 2013

The company is part of a diversified group that was established in the late 50s and is a well- recognized contractor in Water, Waste Water and Power EPC Projects, as well as, (O&M). The company employs a work force of 2500 employees with operations in all regions of the Kingdom. Although; the company is a leader among the top five contractors in the industry; for five consecutive years projects were delayed and financial performance was extremely poor, the company was losing money and was headed to bankruptcy.

I was hired to manage the company and evaluate the entire structure, operation, cashflow and performance restrains; consequently, make whatever changes necessary to put the company back on the right track.

It was obvious that time was critical, therefore, within 8 months major re-structuring, re-organization and key changes were completed. These changes required immediate replacement of a number of general managers, middle managers as well as projects managers, total utilization of resources, new finance, receivables and purchasing procedures, new project management software, introduction of performance and incentive measures…etc.

The company reached breakeven after one year from implementing the turnaround plan; all projects were back on track, and performance was at acceptable high levels in all functions.
