Being a Senior Transmission Engineer of NCC (Reliability Engineer/
Supervisory Dispatch Engineer). I was Responsible for:-
➢ Monitoring Operation, & control of National Grid /Interconnections of
380 KV/230 KV network among EOA, COA, WOA, SOA & GCCIA
on TLBC AGC mode for system security, stability & reliability
regarding tie lines load limits, voltage & frequency.
➢ Monitoring of the scheduled and actual interchange, ACE, regulating
reserves and contingency reserves of each area.
➢ Maintain standard system frequency 60 HZ to keep a balance between
generation and load demand in the Kingdom.
➢ Maintain Power generation & Unit commitment on Economic dispatch
criteria/ Merit Order.
➢ Exchange of power among the areas and other utilities (GCCIA, Saudi
Aramco, Madan & Marafiq etc.) as per Economic dispatch &
emergency basis.
➢ Evaluate the expected load pattern and start generating units to meet
the system load demand & mitigate the risk of system security.
➢ Maintaining Operating spinning reserves (AGC/Local) throughout the
kingdom for reliability, stability & security of system.
➢ Initiate Energy Emergency Alerts.
➢ Following Power generation forecasted schedule and corrective
actions for deviations in the real time demand pattern & availability of
generators.
➢ Perform Load Rejection, Run back & RRT tests of newly installed
plants for Testing commissioning.
➢ Carry-out load shedding in pre- arranged methods in case of
generation shortage or other system contingency.
➢ Exchange of Power with GCCIA on planned & emergency basis.

Operation I was responsible for:
• Operational Planning
Performing and evaluating power system operational studies
required to ensure safe, efficient and reliable real-time operation of
KESC Transmission Network.
• Network Management:
Optimal utilization of Network elements keeping their parameters
within safe limits.
1)Review system Isolations under different operational scenarios &
their implementation.
2)Achieving greater System security by implementing Automatic Load
Ejection scheme through SCADA

• Breakdown Management:
1)System restoration in minimum possible time after the partial /
Total Breakdown.
2)Review SOPs for prompt and safe Network restoration.
3) Refresher Trainings for Engineers & SBOs to handle Breakdown /
major tripping effectively.
• Implementation and Updation of Operating Procedures
Implementation of existing SOPs and assist in their updation
according to the changes in the EHT network
• Implementation of SCADA Functionalities
To ensure the availability, implementation and utilization of SCADA
functionalities as much as possible and to ensure the gradual / swift
transition from conventional to SCADA system &coordinate with
other Depts. To resolve SCADA related issues.
• Reporting &Data Management :
To maintain system operational data being utilized by LDC itself &
otherKESC Depts. for Planning, forecasting etc

• Economic Load Dispatching
Plan and implement an economic load dispatching plan as per
guidelines provided by G&T planning and line management.
• Ensurance of Safety
1)Supervised the entire safety role headed by a DGM and his team in
LDC for the insurance of safety at Grid Stations by SBOs and
maintenance staff during normal System Operation and planned /
unplanned shutdowns.
2)Monthly review of safety issues at grid stations and office premises
to create awareness amongst the LDC team.
