As Senior Manager, Project Planing and Control, I was responsible for administration, quality, safety, detail design, construction, and commissioning activities for hospital and educational building facilities for Aga Khan University and Hospital (AKUH). And I was responsible for establishing and accomplishing the agreed project objectives. I managed Campus Utilities Master Plan and worked with a team to manage Campus Build-out Master Plan.

I provided senior managerial leadership, as primary point of interaction with the Users. I directed and managed performances of responsibilities delegated to the Project Managers, Construction Managers, Planning Manager, Contract Manager, Project Controls and Procurement Managers. I was responsible for establishing, monitoring and updating of all project plans, budgets, programs and resource requirements. I was responsible for coordination of all project support and development of project staff. I am overall responsible for establishing of the projects tendering procedures and conditions, structuring of contract packages and appointment, administration and payment of all contractors and consultants.

 As Senior Project Manager completed Emergency Building Project (a 32, 000 square-ft. facility) for Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan, 2006 to 2008.
 As Senior Project Manager delivered Labour and Delivery Building Project for Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan, 2008 to 2010.
 As Senior Project Manager submitted Design of Ambulatory Care Building Project for Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, Pakistan, 2009 to 2010.

AT OWASA, I lead a team of internationally reputed consultants to work and delivery a 50-Year Comprehensive Water and Sewer Master Plan for the community of Carrboro and Chapel Hill in North Carolina, USA. I also worked closely with University of North Carolina Chapel Hill to provide technical support in delivery the Water and Sewer Master Plan for the Chapel Hill Campus of the University System.

I planned, directed and administered the daily activities of the Engineering and Planning Department. Developed and implemented short and long range plans for water and wastewater system expansion. Developed, directed and controled the capital improvement budget and the department’s operating budget. Acted as liaison for OWASA with customers, engineers, developers, contractors and the general public to provide system and policy information and resolution to system problems. Developed, reviewed, modified and implemented OWASA policies as necessary to carry out the development and construction plans for OWASA. Maintained positive relations with OWASA Board of Directors, local, state and federal officials. Reported to the Executive Director.

Received an “Excellent Achievement Award” for successfully completing a 5 Million Gallons per Day Expansion and Upgrade of the Jones Ferry Road Water Treatment Plant. As a Project Director led a team of staff, consultants and contractor for $50 Million project for Upgrade and Expansion of OWASA’s Mason Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant. This project was recently completed a year after my departure from OWASA.

Worked with OWASA’s team and consultants to develop a Comprehensive Water and Sewer Master Plan for OWASA. Led a team of staff and consultants in successfully completing a number of projects, including Update of OWASA’s Geogprahic Information System (GIS); Update and Revision of OWASA’s Standards and Specifications for Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection Systems, and Water Rehabilitation Prioritization Model.

Implemented principles of “Team Building and Partnering Concepts” with various stakeholders including consultants, contractors and OWASA staff to successfully complete difficult design and construction projects. Developed training programs for staff to further improve their project management, public relations and communications skills.

 As Engineering Director delivered Design and Construction of Orange Water & Sewer Authority’s Mason Farm Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade and Expansion, Chapel Hill, North Carolina, USA, 2002 to 2006.
 As Engineering Director submitted 50 Year Comprehensive Water and Sewer Master Plan for OWASA, 1999 - 2001.
 As Engineering Director managed an aggressive US $300 Million 15 year, Capital Improvement Plan for OWASA, 1999 to 2006.
 Managed surface mining properties of over 500 acres and developed optimized surface mining plans for the operations.
 Project management of numerous civil infra-structure and new building projects.
 Utilized alternate rehabilitation techniques for civil infrastructure to reduce the service disruptions for the customers.
 Implemented computer software to streamline and optimize the water distribution system for efficient supply of safe drinking water to OWASA's customers.

Responsibilities included assisting in managing the Capital Improvement Program (CIP) of the City of Columbia for water, wastewater, stormwater and street improvement projects. The City of Columbia’s CIP Budget for utilities ranged between $40 to $45 million per year. Was instrumental in establishing a CyberNET Water Distribution System Model (skeleton model) for City’s 1, 800 miles of water distribution system. Was also instrumental in establishing procedures for trenchless technology rehabilitation of wastewater system.

Managed design and construction of various public building projects, including Community Centers, Police Stations, Fire Stations and Administration Building. Detail list of actual projects is attached. Assisted in managing and administering the Engineering Division. Help developed both the Annual Operational and CIP budgets for the Division.
