Coordinating with the various European, American, Canadian and Australian embassies,
among others, to ensure the safe and smooth departure of refugees of all nationalities to
the resettlement countries
- Coordinating with the Lebanese General Security Office regarding formalities required and
determining best course of action for country exit procedures.
- Sending on-time data to the Lebanese General Security Office to facilitate movement of
refugees
- Instructing refugees on procedures to ensure their safe departure out of the country and
liaising with the Legal partners to prevent deportation of some refugees
- Liaising with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) among other UNHCR
partners (Caritas, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Danish Refugee
Council…) to organize and prepare the departure of the refugees.
- Contributing to the successful resettlement of 6, 366 refugees in 2015.
- Identifying cases with specific needs for resettlement cases
- Working as a national focal point for receiving a large amount of internal and external
referrals of Syrian cases to be processed for resettlement
- Studying and assessing refugee files for prioritization for resettlement
- Ensuring that the information provided at registration level is accurate and complete
- Drafting a Case referral form, endorsed by the team leader and referring the case to the
Regional Office
- Maintaining up-to-date results and ensuring that events are correctly updated by
caseworkers on the UN system
- Sending weekly lists of cases in a timely manner to caseworkers for preliminary telephonic
assessments
- Ensuring completion of pre-screening cases on the UN system and after telephonic
assessments
- Responding to queries from resettlement colleagues and being involved in other support
tasks where required
- Providing support in the retroactive updates of the UN system since January 2013
- Maintaining accurate resettlement statistics as well as up-to-date records on individual
cases; assisting in the preparation of reports
