• Profit & loss, budgets, cash flows, procurement, stock control, negotiating contracts, all expenditure, planning and implementing cost saving measures, finding solutions to raise profits, negotiating with financiers, and ensuring a good and trustworthy relationship with financiers.
• Employment contracts (200 people), promotions, disciplinary actions, management of labour, employee relationships, setting and measuring performance targets, labour laws, motivating employees.
• Responsible for planning operational actions, monitoring and evaluating operational actions, measuring effectiveness of operations, scheduling production, finding new and innovative ways to do things, focusing on productive operations and discontinuing unproductive ones, planning and implementing new developments.
• A significant portion of my time and skills when into the area of marketing I was responsible for sales contracts, negotiating prices, quality, quantities, delivery dates, and ensuring good relationships with buyers (CRM) . Other responsibilities included contracts with transporters, package design, market research, supply chain management, etc.
• Making sure that all contracts and other obligations are met including the below: negotiating buying/leasing contracts for buying Fixed and Other assets including Land, Residential property, Property for Industrial use (Also see procurement, Marketing, Labour), applying for and obtaining mining permits, Presenting and managing an environmental management plan, Keeping mining operation within legal restraints, Maintenance & management of equipment.
• Knowledge Management, I have always considered this both an interesting and at the same time challenging topic. The timeframe that we operate in has a culture whereby knowledge power is emphasised, and it is always challenging to find ways of converting Tacit Knowledge to Explicit Knowledge, however I do believe that it is of upmost importance to achieve this.
