10+ years working in and around the UAE. I have worked in several roles within the current organization progressing from Senior Training Officer to Operations Officer to Fire Safety Manager and Deputy FIre Chief
A. Duties/responsibilities:
Assists the Fire Chief in the following tasks:
1. Fire Investigations.
2. Fire Safety Inspections.
3. Other duties as assigned.
4. Ensure proper fire fighting and emergency tactics are employed.
5. Assist in prioritizing fire fighting, hazardous material and medical aid tasks.
6. Responds to requests for service, all (fire, EMS, special rescue) emergencies and performs and participates in the proper mitigation of same.
7. Teaches Fire Prevention, and other topics as required.
8. Maintains all resources, in a state of readiness.
9. Participate in development, installation emergency and/or disaster response exercises, and operations planning committees and meetings. Creates reports, schedules and rosters dealing with departmental and personnel activities.
10. This position has been designated as “emergency essential” by DOD, and is therefore required, as a condition of employment, to take the series of anthrax vaccine immunizations to include annual boosters. This would include other immunizations that may in the future be required for this position, or for a position that employee may fill as an emergency-essential alternate. Failure to take the immunizations may lead to removal of employee from this position. All applicable: Dept. of Def., Dept. of State, and other Federal documents, (i.e. Directives, Instructions, & “Requirements for Emergency Essential Employees”) will be followed by employee & employer.
B. Independence: Works under the supervision of: Fire Chief.
C. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises shifts of: Stations Captains, Crew Chiefs, Driver/Operators, Paramedics, Firefighters
Progressed from Airman to Staff Sergeant, served in increasing roles of responsiblity from basic Firefighter to Driver Operator to Crew Chief and finally Station Captain. Provided fireground supervision for 30 personnel, developed shift schedules, provided training and leadership to subordinates.
