KPMG is a strategic client of Allens Linklaters and this was a secondment intended to enhance the relationship between the two firms.
•My experience included:
advising in relation to regulatory investigations commenced by the Australian Securities and Investments Commission and the Australian Taxation Office;
advising in respect of litigation against the firm;
undertaking investigations in relation to various employee practices, including misuse of firm information and subsequently advising on strategy;
drafting firm policies in relation to compliance procedures.

Amcor Limited in proceedings brought by third parties seeking damages in connection with the alleged cartel between packaging companies, Amcor and Visy. One of these proceedings was the largest class action litigated in Australian history;
ASX-listed companies, major banks and professional services firms in relation to regulatory investigations commenced by the Australian Securities and Investments Commissions;
Indigenous clients in relation to their rights under the various Stolen Wages Reparation Schemes;
•and
Conducting external investigations and, in light of the investigation outcomes, advising on strategy, employment law issues, enhancement of internal compliance procedures and relevant reporting obligations for:
an ASX-listed company in relation to alleged foreign corrupt practices by employees. This work included advising on protection regimes for whistleblowers;
a bank in relation to personal account trading by employees of various stocks that are traded on the ASX;
an investment bank in relation to an employee's claim of unfair dismissal;
a global hotel management group in relation to alleged fraudulent conduct by its Chief Operating Officer;
a professional services firm in relation to an employee's contravention of the firm's procedures governing dealing in securities and accordingly, possible breaches of the firm's Australian Financial Services Licence; and
a professional services firm in relation to misuse of confidential information by employees.
•Further experience while at Allens Linklaters includes

I was responsible for distributing work amongst the clerks which required liaising with both practitioners and clerks;

the Intellectual Property Group, I was responsible for continuously informing the group of relevant legal and regulatory developments. I was also responsible for preparing a monthly newsletter that reported these developments to clients and potential clients.
