• Preparation of the assessment formats, in terms of Population, Service Coverage and Finance.
• Assisted in designing the road map for UHC in the state of Kerala and lead the work of PHFI on the application of tools and analytic techniques of UHC
• Identify and liaise with concerned institutions and departments of stategovernment at state and district level and relevant stake holders to discuss and harmonize the policies and strategies relating to UHC
• Assist in various aspects relating to assessments, capacity development, developing options, report writing and documentation among other issues for the eventual uptake and implementation of UHC
• Coordinate including administration, liaising, and logistics, organizing meetings at the state and district level.
• Writing the reports based on the analysis of the health related data of the district.

The study was conducted in Medical and Surgical wards of IMCH, Calicut on 11-06-2008 and 12-06-2008. The research approach used was descriptive study. Research tool was semi structured interview schedule and bio physiologic measurement. The data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics by calculating frequency percentage. Frequency tables, pie diagram, bar diagram, were used in analysis. A leaflet on contributing factors and preventive measures of PEM was prepared. The major findings of the study were
• Out of 60 children under study, 45% were normal who do not have PEM, 43.33% were having grade I PEM, 0.05% have grade II PEM, 0.05% grade III PEM, and 0.016% were having grade IV PEM.
• Majority of mothers (68.3%) were not having any nutritional problems, 25% were having anemia, and 3.3% were having malnutrition.
• During pregnancy, more than half of mothers were not having any disease, 18% mothers had hypertension, small percentages were having cardiac disease and gestational diabetes.
• 65% of the children were moderately built, 31% were under weight and 3% were over weight
• Most of the children were given breast feeding for 13-24 months
• For most of the children (61%) weaning was started before six months
• Most of the children (70%) were found to have recurrent respiratory tract infections
• 45% of the children were found to have developed diarrhoea previously
• 33% of mothers were unaware of PEM
• 30% of samples had inadequacy of protein supplements.
