Motivating staff during demanding service periods by briefing the staff daily and weekly meeting,
Managing stock and helping to ensure that stations stay stocked during service,
Ordering food and supplies from vendors,
Managing schedules, vacations, requests for time off and station rotations of line cooks,
Recruiting, training and educating staff,
Making sure kitchen staff are using FIFO
Ensuring dishes are up to standards,
Preparing monthly inventory,
Checking fridges’ and food temperature, and
Making sure there are no expired items in the kitchen.
Referring to list of needed ingredients on a day-to-day basis and check inventory,
Acquiring ingredients not available in storage prior to the start of the day,
Inform kitchen staff of their schedules and delegate appropriate duties,
Assisting head chef in cooking dishes according to set recipes,
Making arrangements to store food items in a safe and orderly manner,
Maintaining kitchen order by ensuring cleanliness of tables, counters and work areas,
Setting prepared dishes so that they look aesthetically pleasing,
Following up with the store’s kitchen check lists, and
Making sure all dishes are up to standards, fresh, ready at the right time frame.
