PSY1 - GENERAL PSYCHOLOGY Every man deals with someone and his dealings with people would be happier if he understood them. The need to understand people better can best be achieved with the knowledge of human behavior – the study of psychology. Psychology as a study of behavior sheds light on people’s mode of reaction to, and interaction with their environment. The study provides a broad coverage of the conceptual and empirical foundations of psychology in its main fields. The discussion of the theories, concepts, and empirical findings focuses on complex human behavior: how and why we think, feel, and behave the way we do, how we act and interact with others, and why we become the unique individuals that we are. PSY2 - GUIDANCE AND COUNSELING Guidance is the assistance given to individuals in making intelligent choices and adjustments. It is based on the democratic principle that is the duty and the right of every individual to choose his own way in life in so far as his choice does not interfere with the rights of others. The ability to make such choices is not innate but, like other abilities, must be developed. The center of any guidance activity is the individual and because of this, it is imperative that this individual be given insight of his own self. His effectiveness as a functioning member of any group solely depends on how he views himself. PSY3 - EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY Psychology is the study of the thoughts and actions of individuals. Educational Psychology is a course designed to introduce psychological principles, theories, and methodologies to issues of teaching and learning in schools. The goal of this course is to improve students’ ability to reason psychologically about teaching and learning. In practicing this ability, students will have the opportunity to survey current research and theory in educational psychology
