➢ Assists in engineering work such as design specifications, costs estimates, root cause analysis, reliability improvement and work schedules.
➢ Performs routine and repetitive engineering tasks in support of system protection and substation communications engineering, primarily related to substation controls and protective relaying engineering.
➢ Prepares engineering documents such as drawings, specifications and procedures, and assembles engineering packages for projects.
➢ Gathers data for engineering studies and performs engineering calculations.
➢ Responsible for performing cost estimates and cost/benefit analysis tasks.
➢ Assists as needed, in the development of departmental budgets including analysis required providing explanations of budget variances and financial spending forecasts.
➢ Provides technical assistance and direction to operating and maintenance personnel and customer representatives relating to transmission and substation issues.
➢ Assists in response to electrical system emergencies on a 24-hour basis to the system control center(s) and field organizations.
➢ Assists in the analysis of system operations using fault recorders, event recorders and recorded alarms.
➢ Maintains engineering records and files.
➢ Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned.
