Provides direct patient care utilizing the nursing process within established hospital, divisional and unit specific policies and procedures, standards and protocols.
Demonstrates knowledge and clinical assessment skills appropriate to clinical area.
Takes direct and appropriate action in urgent and emergency situations.
Documents all assessments, interventions and other pertinent information in the patient’s health care record in a timely and ongoing manner.
Promotes continuity of patient care through oral and written communications.
Demonstrates effective communication and collaboration skills when interacting with patients/families, other healthcare team members and staff of other departments.
Complies with hospital infection control and safety protocols.
Addresses issues using a problem solving framework. Initiates the nursing or medical/ administrative chain of command if unable to resolve issues satisfactorily.
Liaisons with other health care team members and departments to provide continuity of patient care and unit activities.
Works with all health care team members in activities designed for the improvement of patient care outcomes.

Coordinates with the other members of the health team in providing care to meet patients needs.
Accepts delegated work from his/her superior.
Receives proper endorsement of patient and endorses adequate stocks of emergency drugs on hand. Emergency cart inventory and safeguarding drugs and medicines of patient.
Carries out orders from the physician concerning treatment of patient within 24 hours accurately and with competence and makes appropriate and immediate referrals of important observations about patients condition at all times.
Administers medication and treatment.
Encoding of medications and medical supplies needed by the patient.
Assist the physician in carrying out or rendering nursing procedures and assist them at bedside in accordance with standard method.
Accompanies patient to other hospitals, within the hospital for any diagnostic procedures, transfers and home conduction.
Supervise trainees, students in the execution of nursing procedures and evaluates its effectiveness.
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness and up keeping the station and nurses lounge.
Makes accurate recording of medication administered, Intake and Output, nursing interventions done, up keeping of chart and Kardex/Special Endorsement Sheet.
Ensure safety of the patient during transfer from one department to another.
Coordinate with proper authority in regards to procedures to be done outside the institution.(e.g. sent out laboratory request, conduction of patient to other hospital).
