Core Facilities Power Technician

Duties:
• Monitor System Performance to specifications, carefully looking for trends and/or anomalies.
• Checking air conditioners in all rooms, cooling plants, power voltages (AC and DC), Rectifiers, Inverters and standby generators.
• Write weekly performance reports detailing system operation and trends.
• Troubleshoot failures in the system and subsystems.
• Repair failures in a safe and cost-effective manner.
• Perform routine maintenance on system.
• Travel to other sites for conducting repairs as needed rectify faults when ever alarm has been detected.
• Install DC Batteries and connect to load center and testing.
• Install, terminate, and test power AC and DC power cables.
• Test and trouble shoot wiring connections.
• Monitor, maintain and repair electrical and mechanical systems involved in back-up power generators using technical manuals and wiring schematics. Install product updates to general back up power systems.
• Perform basic operational maintenance to multiple power generators. Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions preventing normal operation of machinery and corresponding control devices.
• Isolate and repair electrical malfunctions in system wiring, sub-assemblies and other components using technical manuals, wiring schematics and drawings.
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment and components to identify hazards, defect and the need for adjustment or repair.
• Testing electrical systems and continuity circuits in electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters and voltmeters to ensure compatibility and safety of the system.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on and operated electrical and auxiliary systems resulting in optimal.
• Checking auto fire systems and fire extinguishers.
• Working with contractors. (Foreigners and Local Malawians)
