Leon Britz

I am currently a Software Development Manager at 24.com, a division of Media24. I manage three teams, totalling 18 developers. I’m also the acting Scrum Master for these teams. Daily management of resources and recruitment forms a big part of my job. One team is a C# .NET team, responsible for sites like News24, Fin24, and all the 24-brands. The other two teams are native mobile developers, with half iOS and half Android developers. There are also three QA Engineers reporting to me.
I’m an active member in the Scrum community and served on the SUGSA (Scrum User Group of SA) committee three years ago. I’m passionate about the wellbeing of my developers, making sure they implement solid coding principals, keeping them on the path of continuous improvement by following the guidelines of Scrum as close as possible.

Exclusive developer and architect for Who’s Who of Southern Africa (www.whoswhosa.co.za) which is part of Media24 and later incorporated by 24.com. Later incorporated in the Social Networking Scrum of 24.com, as Senior Developer on several sites like the central-login system, www.laaik.it and blogs.24.com. Development was done in .NET 3.5 (C#), AJAX 2.0 and Visual Studio 2008.
Later became part of 20Four Labs, working on projects like RAP (in-house authentication), and letterdash.com. During this time I also worked for four months for Blueworld.co.za, a social network site of Media24.

Identified potential problem-areas and advised editorial team on general web site practices.
Planned and designed various mini e-commerce sections within Moneymax working closely with editorial team and content partners.
Liaised with several content partners to ensure web site is current and up to date.
Wrote Transact-SQL queries for on-the-fly pages.
