Environmental Responsibilities:

• Managing the development and implementation of an environmental management system (ISO 14001), to improve environmental performance and ensure legal compliance with legislation and other requirements and promote sustainable construction.
• Developing and implementation of the EMP; site operational plans, procedures and method statements.
• Developing and implementing environmental strategies and action plans that ensure corporate sustainability reporting;

• Ensure the development, implementation and updating of required written safety and health programs and plans.
• Facilitate internal auditing and external auditing as per project audit schedule and ensure tracking and closure of remedial action.
• Coordinate accident/injury investigations within the area of responsibility and where necessary as per requirement, lead the investigation and ensure tracking and close out of CAPA.
• Coordinate inspections of project and facility operations and carrying out weekly management “walk through” with site management.

Project: PMC for Lusail City Development - Lusail is a new City in the State of Qatar, 38km² mixed use development comprising of 19 districts, 4 islands, with infrastructures such as roads, light rail, DC-plants, STP etc. It is a comprehensive arena with leisure sports, residential buildings, commercial towers, avenues and public Marinas. When completed the city can accommodate 200, 000 residents and 170, 000 employees; it will also welcome over 80, 000 visitors.

Responsibilities:

• Management and overseeing of construction packages to ensure full environmental compliance.
• Reviewing and updating the Lusail Development Project’s Overall Construction Environmental Management Plan (OCEMP).
• Develop, implement, review and revise environmental procedures.
• Review and provide comments on contractors and supervising consultants documentation including Designs, CEMP, Method Statements, Risk Assessments and Permit Applications before submission to Lusail (Client);
• Review and provide comments on contractors and consultants monitoring data, weekly and monthly reports before submission to the client and the MME (Qatar Ministry of Environment);

Project: Kusile and Medupi Power Plants Projects - The two projects involve the construction of six 800 MW boilers for each project, which when completed, will represent more than 20% of South Africa's power generation capacity. The Medupi and Kusile projects are currently the largest power generation projects in South Africa and the largest coal-fired steam generator projects in Africa as well as the largest air-cooled plants in the world. Medupi is also the first supercritical power station on the African continent.

Project: Uranium One’s Dominion Reefs mine is a large mine located in the northern part of South Africa in Dominionville, occupying an area of approximately 14 000 hectares in the Witwatersrand Basin. Dominion reefs represent one of the largest Uranium reserves in South Africa having estimated reserves of 113.1 million tons of ore grading 0.037% Uranium. The mine includes a shallow underground mine, with a Uranium processing operation plants and open pits where exploratory blasting takes place.

•Assisting the Environmental superintendent with the coordination and implementation of the EMPR (Environmental Management Program/Plan) for existing and new mining operations.
•Making sure the company complied with the Water Use license/permit and other legal requirements.
