Led a multi-country research project addressing COVID-19 impacts, policies, and practical responses
with regards to refugees and internally displaced people in six conflict-affected countries in the MENA
region (funded by UNDP)
• Co-led a study addressing the policy responses to the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and Jordan through
assessing the policy landscape in both countries and employing case study analysis of eight interventions
at the government, local, and community levels (funded by IDRC)
Led a multifaceted research project on strengthening national health information systems (HIS) in
Lebanon and Jordan which included conducting comprehensive HIS assessments, devising national HIS
strategic plans, and developing compendiums of national health indicators (funded by IDRC)
• Led a mentorship program in Africa as part of K2P Mentorship Program to develop sustainable
institutional capacity for the demand and use of evidence within mentee institutions in six WHO regions
(funded by WHO Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research)
• Co-led a multi-country comparative study on integrating refugees into national health systems in
Lebanon, Jordan, and Uganda (funded by Health Systems Research Initiative)
• Contributed to the consultations, discussions, and writeup of the theme and subthemes of the Sixth Global
Symposium on Health Systems Research (HSR 2020)
• Contributed to the K2P COVID-19 Response Initiative by authoring two publications: “Safeguarding
Human Rights during the COVID-19 Pandemic” (Lead Author) and “Harnessing the Power of Digital
Health in Responding to COVID-19 and Beyond” (Co-author
Co-authored the first comprehensive case study on the primary health care system in Lebanon
(PRIMASYS) commissioned by the WHO Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research (funded by
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation)
• Co-authored a case study assessment of the institutional capacity of the Lebanese Ministry of Public
Health for the demand and use of evidence (funded by WHO Alliance for Health Policy and Systems
Research)
• Co-authored three K2P Dialogue Summaries that detailed the deliberations of policy dialogues conducted
in Lebanon, Jordan and Bahrain which aimed to identify health system research priorities in order to
achieve the sustainable development goals (SDGs)
• Contributed to drafting a research proposal that was awarded a One Million Dollar grant by the Medical
Research Council (“Integrating Refugees into National Health Systems: Enhancing Equity and
Strengthening Sustainable Health Services for All”)
