People’s Merchant Bank (PMB) is the Subsidiary company of People’s Bank, which is the largest Government Bank of Sri Lanka. PMB is having more than 30 year’s history in merchant bank trade in Sri Lanka. Main business area are Vehicle Leasing, Loans, Saving, Real Estate, Fixed Deposit, short term financing, Foreign currency.
Main Responsibilities
• Designing and implementing the People’s merchant Finance corporate IT policy which is aligning with her corporate goal of 1 billion net profits by 2015.
• Managing, Maintaining, Monitoring & Developing Local Area Network (LAN).
• Installing, Configuring and Maintaining Windows Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Monitoring and Managing online Branch network.
• Optimization and Monitoring WAN bandwidth according to the company requirements.
• Entrusting the Network and Data security.
• Maintaining and monitoring Disaster recovery site and database backup procedures.
• Planning to Migrate obsolete servers into new IBM X Series servers and SAN with VMware VSphere 5 Visualization technologies.

Key Achievements
• Successfully restructured the local area network implementing manageable switches. Through this I increased the efficiency of LAN and the traffic visibility
• WAN optimization project saved 40% from the monthly IP/VPN bill.
• Successfully migrated Microsoft Active directory environment from Server 2003 to Server 2008 R2. This was 100% in-house project and was deployed by my ‘Infrastructure Team’. We have been successfully migrated DNS, Group policies and WSUS.
• Managed and implemented the ‘Corporate Firewall Restructure Project’ with the support of IBM Sri Lanka.
• Successfully Established a DR site which replicates online live database at Corporate Head office. We fully tested the DR operations as island wide branch network could smoothly continue their operations without the existence of the Head office.
• I successfully implemented ‘Synology’ Network attached storage to ensure the end user backups, retrieval of the backups and manageability of the storage.
• Introduced ‘Remote VPN Facility’ to widen the branch network by opening window type branches within short period of time. This new technology helps to save 40% from capital expenditure of new branch opening. Also this enables the management to access company’s IT resources from anywhere in world.
People’s Merchant Bank Credit Company Ltd is the subsidiary company of People’s Merchant Bank PLC. This company was formed by the government of Sri Lanka to give the new experience of Financial Services to general public of Sri Lanka.

• Conducting SWOT analysis to Merge IT infrastructure of Both Companies together.
• Planning, Implementing and Managing IT/Communication Infrastructure merger of ABC and PMB.
• Managing and Maintain IT and Communication Infrastructure.
Key Achievements
• Implemented infrastructure merger with Zero operational down time.
• Operational cost of the company reduced by 40 % due to successful merger.
• Designed and Implemented state of the art data center with Raised Floor, Environmental monitoring System, Redundant UPS, Redundant Cooling System, Temperature and Humidity Monitors, CCTV and Secured Thumb access for 50 % low cost from outside vendor price.
Reason for leaving the company was I promoted to IT Department of People’s Merchant Bank PLC, the mother company of People’s Merchant Bank Credit Card Company Ltd.
This is the first locally developed credit card system in Sri Lanka. ABC Credit card system is fully independent from Visa/Master tie-ups; due to saving of transaction wise service charge has to Visa or Master. We have been established our own infrastructure all over the country and our Customer base increased more than 50000 within one years’ time.

• Managing Credit Card system implementation and software development team.

• Handled Black box and user testing of the system and implemented first locally built credit card system with minimal errors.

• Established online branch network with 10 branches within 4 months.
• Trained the employees for using system and save 50% training cost.
• Get promoted as Assistant Manager IT within one years’ time.
Reason for changing the company was due to company merger of ABC Credit Card Company Ltd and People’s Merchant Bank PLC on April 2009.
ABC Shipping is the third largest shipping company in Sri Lanka. ABC is the Local Agent for K’ Line Tokyo and many leading shipping lines. Staff strength is more than 200 employees. It’s handling container operations, Freight forwarding, port operations, cargo and vehicle shipping and etc.
Main Responsibilities
• Analyze, Design, Develop, Testing and Implementing Cargo, Container operations, EDI and Documentation system
• Maintaining and Managing Active Directory and MS Exchange 2000 Server
• Troubleshooting and supporting day today IT issues and customer requirements.
• IT Equipment and Services procurement
• Managing and supervising new IT Infrastructure Establishments.
Key Achievements
• Successfully migrated old DOS base system into VB6 and SQL server 2000. Saved US$ 10000 from IT budget of ABC Shipping.
• Implemented reporting facility to the management to take their strategic decisions in various aspects.
• Reduced Delivery orders and Bill of Laden issuing time from 8 Hours to 30 minutes.
• Totally replaced the data entering process of container Loading/unloading details by implementing EDI (Electronic Data Interchange Files).
• Established Automated help desk to identify the common areas of issues and it helped to reduced day today IT issues by 30%.
Reason for leaving, Chairman promoted me to his newly established subsidy company named ABC Credit Cards Company Ltd.
